Cold, hard, fact. Education does NOT equal intelligence.
I did pretty good not being booksmart , but having good common sense and not being afraid of hard work .

My sister once asked my grandma if she would rather be booksmart , or have common sense. She was born in West Virginia and from a coal mining family . She thought for a minute and said common sense . She had enough common sense to leave the coal mines and move to Richmond as soon as she graduated high school .

Glock was very innovative 25 years ago and has excelled in marketing. But Glock has reached a point where it can no longer rest on its laurels. It’s time to streamline the line as well as get innovative and introduce some new guns.
People have been saying this for years, and yet Glock continues to sell despite mostly minor changes.

So I know Glock is a private company, so there may well be controls in place that we will never know about, but it’s looking from social media at least Kathrin may not just be sitting in the background collecting checks.

We do live in an era where “Title creates competence” and not to be chauvinist but a certain gender seems to buy into it way more than the other one 😏

So the timing and the massive cuts in different models (there is a solid business reason their are 20 versions of Coke and Pepsi even if some flavors do not sell well) could it be that Kathrin Glock is now taking full charge? and maybe things are going to get weird because of it???
They're discontinuing models because the Gen 6 is coming. Much ado about little.

That’s so true. Take S&W for instance, instead of announcing a new Generation, they increase the dot number (ex: 19.4 to 19.5). No big announcement, it just happens. I have to think part of the big deal with Glock Generations stems from the Gen 3 and the California roster. The only reason the Gen 3 is still in production is because of the California market.
That's because the 1.0 version is usually full of design flaws and QC issues. What are they going to announce? "We fixed the problems the consumers found after we released it without adequate testing." ? Each Glock generation may only involve subtle changes but at least the consumer doesn't typically have to worry about reliability (best case) or getting shot in the thigh when their fancy, modular FCU goes off in the holster. (Worst case.)

She is an attractive lady with plenty of money and a big role to fill. I think she will do just fine.
Loss of a founder is very difficult for any company. I just hope she is going to listen to the right people within the company.

Uniformity and QC has been a Glock strength, but at some point they will need to innovate again.

What if this product roadmap was already laid out by Gaston when he was of sound mind? Would we be talking about her? There is a possibility it was.

What if he vehemently was against this turn? And she is doing something drastic to make Glock more of an industry leader again.

What if Gen 6 was nothing but steel sights and the return of finger grooves?

What if she sold the company to Vista Outdoors and retired to a country she purchased? Oh then Glock be screwed.

Anyways, I'm gonna go make a fresh tub of popcorn.

No one here knows one thought of her intentions with the company. I’m sure there will be misogynistic fueled theories to follow.
That said it’s hers to do as she chooses.
That's basically the white knight and feminist equivalent to how the left refers to Republicans as racist, sexist, and all the other "isms," "ists," and "phobias" whenever they state the truth about protected groups.

She was at SHOT and she was assertive and confident. Very different impression of her than the decades of media coverage.

It would not surprise me at all that she is in charge and has the gumption to leave her own fingerprints on Glock as separate and apart from Gaston.

I don’t know what the changes might be, but as an early adopter my reasons were the Simplicity of design (Glocks ads used to feature its parts count), durability, cheap price compared to competition of its day, easy to get cheap parts with no factory restrictions.

To me if you get fancy and try to build a superpistol with every gadget and fad that would make the “Glock needs to innovate!” crowd happy, you just lost a lot of the fans that brought them success 😕

This has to be an ad geared towards government entities. I tried to get a few what I thought basic parts from Glock and they said no only armorers.

Did something change when the clones came out?

They can run 2 different designs concurrently. Lays makes plain chips and ruffled chips. If they can do that magic Glock can build 2 differently designed guns.

Maybe Gaston could not chew gum and walk at the same time? Hence the one basic design to rule them all.
