Did some googling recently that says most gunfights follow the FBI rule of 3s. Averages of 3 yards, 3 seconds and 3 rounds.

Other sources say 3-7 rounds.

The Glock 43X is criticized for being a 10+1 firearm with many faulting it for that.

Yet it seems you don’t really need 10 rounds and with a magazine extra, you bring 20 which is plenty.

At 10 rounds it’s small, compact and very capable. So why all the fuss over rounds when stats suggest otherwise? And you can always bring a mag extra. (Don’t even need the smith and Wesson expanded mags necessarily)

Please let me know what you all think.

My logic is that for civilian self defense one loaded Glock 43X is plenty (esp if an extra clip is available).

Your logic is sound (IMHO).

FWIW - in the colder warmer weather, I carry a S&W Shield 9mm (8rd mag) with an extra magazine. I feel secure with the combination.

If you are former SF, or professional competitive shooter, or firearms instructor, or taken handgun levels 1-4 and repeated the classes at different schools....no.

If you are the average gun owner: who goes to the range 3-10 times a year and has shot only while standing in the lane, has never taken a single handgun training course, learned how to shoot by osmosis and watching John Wick, and Youtube...YES

My SIG P938 has been my EDC since 2016. 8 rounds in the gun and one extra 7 round mag. I am comfortable with that.
I figure for someone wanting to use a gun exclusively for defense, 8 rounds seems plenty, let alone 15 or 20. Comfortable is a very good way to put it. 😉

On the defensive, and at 5 yards let alone less, I think most of us are decent shots.
And I run a bit cold blooded in the sense of being calm. Unlikely to get shaky.

10 rounds seems like a crate of ammo. 20…. A deluge

Many of us carried < 10rds in our smaller pistols and we survived decades. 10rds is a solid amount for an edc pistol.

Regardless of your pistol or magazine capacity:

Rule 1 – Don’t Go to A Gunfight

Love it

1 don’t go to a gunfight

2 practice in case you have no choice… be lethal on the defensive if cornered

3 run when appropriate? (Even in kitten heels and a skirt…. Running, at least for cover, may well be an option)

NOBODY ever survived a gun fight and complained they wished they had a smaller gun, or less ammo.

Bad guys these days "usually" carry semi-autos with extended capacity magazines. Like a G26 with a 17 or 30 round mag, or similar. Follow your area LE Facebook pages, most PDs post images of the guns they take off the streets. Those are the types of firearms you're likely to face. Mostly semi-autos with extended mags.

Intentionally arming yourself with less than your enemy is not ideal, is it? What if there's 2 of them? Or body armor?

CCW is a compromise, but it doesn't have to put you at a disadvantage.

Also, I personally know John Wick. He is a great friend of mine!

his friend Neo from the matrix uploaded advanced shooting competence skills into my head (kinda counts as osmosis)

Ideally if in a gunfight one had no choice but to be in, an assault rifle with automatic capability and multiple 30 round mags would be a much better situation.

However, I am making my argument from the suburban woman avoiding conflict and relying on a slimline compact in a purse to use when cornered, out of options, and out of distance.

This assumes the bad guy gets close with his 50-70 rounds and doesn’t know you are armed. Then at close quarters you aim and try for one head shot and maybe two body shots.

If I miss, he won’t need 70 rounds to kill me.

If my surprise works, it’s lethal with 3 rounds or even one. 70000 rounds won’t save him then, will it?

And you think their choosing to post that gun is not done for effect? Maybe to illicit outrage? While the "extendo" has been popularized. Last I looked cheap guns without extended mags are the lion's share.

My 43x MOS has been my daily carry for about the last 5 years. It probably will be for another 5. So, I guess that's a vote for 10 is sufficient. I do carry a spare magazine, but I probably would if it had 17 rd mags.
Most days I carry either two 327's (12 rounds total). Or I carry a 38/357 K frame and a J frame (11 rounds total)

Short heels between 1.5 to 2 inches.
Ideal way to have a little bit of height gain but still comfy enough to walk. Trickier to run though
Okay. Never had heard that term before. Threw me

Knowing John Wick is nothing. I know, although not personally, Chicken Little. Chicken can be found on many gun forums under different pseudonyms. :ROFLMAO:
I love to make stir fry chicken 🤷🏻‍♀️

Was also my Halloween costume when I was 8 (I have never and will never do that again)
