And I use the term "PCC" loosely.

Really intrigued by the Smith Response.
- Just "ok" with the folder. If I want a smaller gun, I'll get a pistol

PSA has some nice options though. Then there are things like Freedom FX9 and Faxon

For those who have them, what say you on Barrel length? I know 10.5 is the sweet spot for powder burn. But does the 16" carbine really add much?
Is it much slower - I'd imagine it is. Part of the benefit of a 9mm is smaller/lighter than Carbine in pistol mode.

I have no problems with a pistol size, in fact, might prefer it.

Trying to keep the cost low. This is a nice to have, not need to have firearm. Trying for <900.
Thoughts and comments. ??? (Please keep Highpoint and Keltec to yourself, along with Sig and Scorpion)

I don’t think you’ll get much at all past about 8”, so I definitely don’t see going past the 10.5 that you mentioned. I suppose if you load specifically for really long barrels you could get a lot more out of the longer barrels, but regular 9mm ammo is meant to completely finish burning in the first 5ish inches for 99.9% of guns they are typically used in.

For the record, I have a 8.3” 9mm AR pistol, and I probably will go much shorter on the next, maybe 6” max. I’m not looking to make 9mm ammo perform like 357sig. At any rate, both 9mm and 357sig are just pistol calibers, so in my opinion better handling in tight spaces is more valuable than a slight bump in velocity.

Sub $900?

Buy one of these and call it done.

CZ Scorpion Evo 3+ Micro

Military grade, relatively inexpensive magazines, and anything inside 50 yards without cover or armor is in serious trouble. Not to mention that it's just a lot of fun to shoot as well.

I've previously owned a Vector Uzi, a Colt AR in 9mm, and Ruger PCC too.

This one below is the shiznit.

Some loads will actually lose velocity between 12 and 16 inches. That said, balance and hand position are things to consider. Never heard of anyone losing a finger with a 16", know of several with 8 and 10. Personally, a 10" PCP with a suppressor is about optimum. With good bonded bullets, the added velocity is nothing to sneeze at.

Oh, and my fastest is the 16" Faxon barrel with the C-More and a magnesium lower.

I'm contemplating the PSA line because they take glock mags and seem to run well with many of the cheaper aftermarket mags too. I like the qd holes in the front and rear too that a lot of their options have.
Are you going to run a suppressor?
I have a CGS MOD-9 and would like to run it on a PCC, but it's a pretty big suppressor. I believe the smaller SK suppressors or length adaptable ones like the obsidian 9 would be more ideal for a PCC.
Either way I'm thinking an 8" would be a good start for a 9mm PCC from PSA.

You haven't mentioned the Ruger PC9. Are you not interested in that?

I have one, a blast to shoot. I do admit it is ugly. Takes Glock magazines. 16" barrel. Suggested retail $790ish.

Ruger PCC is pretty good. I'm ready to go shoot mine this week. Still stock, no optics, and really is more accurate than it should be.
I also got one of those Vickers Tactical Slings on it. I try to lengthen it out and shoot it commando style the way he shows to do it, but it's such a nightmare to lengthen, then re-shorten the rear sling segment, I just use it as a carrying strap only. It looks cool though, and you can even sling-it-up and shoot prone like GI Joe!

I've had a PSA 8" 9mm for about 5 years. been completely reliable for a couple thousand rounds. and with the Kynshot recoil reducing buffer, it's even more fun to shoot. just converted it to an SBR. form 1 approval took less than 2 weeks.

It's on the pistol/PDW size rather than a carbine and it's super-bugety like Highpoint & KT, so maybe not up your alley, but the Extar EP9 has had lots of praise and positive reviews over the years. (EP45 also available now).
