i get the feeling this had been done before. But I am always rethinking this list.

If you have 10 guns or less, then think about what would you like to have to complete your apocalypse stash.

If you have more than 10 guns, which guns from your stash would you allocate for the end times?

1) Glock 19 9mm, gen 3 or gen 5

2) SIG 516 rifle in 5.56

3) S&W 686-5 6" .357 Mag with scope

4) S&W J-frame for pocket carry (in my case a Ti 342 .38 Spl)

5) Mossberg 590 12 ga

6) Ruger 10/22 .22LR take-down with threaded barrel

7) Ruger 22/45 .22LR (the original) with 6" slab-sided barrel

8) Marlin 39M .22LR Mountie lever-action rifle

9) Savage bolt-action in .308 and Nikon scope

10) FAL in .308

Yeah, if you have to exist as a nomad, you can't carry 10 guns. Hopefully you get to live with friends and family and have a place that is home.

Assuming I have a place to call home, with people there to keep my stuff from being stolen when I'm not there...

P365
AR
G19.4
LCP
G17.4
870 12 ga
Some type of DMR style rifle. AR10 or M1A probably
10/22
22/45 MK4
Another AR

Glock 19 or 17 your choice, because they are common
Sig p320 the Army uses them and if the army pulls another Afghanistan there are spares and plenty of ammo left behind
Ar 15 see above
12 ga pump common in the US
10/22 ammo everywhere
Ruger .22 pistol see above
.308 bolt, Army uses it and ammo available if they bug out, brand probably doesn't matter
.38 special ammo common in the US, brand doesn't matter
1911 .45 Army used them forever and lot's of ammo still around.
Ok throw in an AK or SKS.

1. An 1874 Sharps rifle in .45-100.
2. Uncle Fester's blunderbuss.
3. An 1886 Winchester in .50 Something.
4. Chief Inspector Dreyfuss' cigarette lighter.
5. A Nerf gun.
6. Colt Single Action Army in .45 Colt.
7. Luger in 9mm.
8. A 4 3/4" Bisley Vaquero in .500 Linebaugh.
9. An Indonesian tribal blowgun made of carved whale bone.
10. A Super Soaker filled with holy water.

Honorable mentions for Josh Randall's 1892 Mare's Leg, Homer Simpson's sawed off 1887 Winchester, and a good double rifle, probably in .450/.400 3" Nitro Express.

10 is being very generous imo. I have guns I wanted, but I also have guns I believe are the bare necessity and if it came down to only having one for survival my choice probably wouldn't be the most popular. Most have the perception that an apocalypse will involve perpetual combat between hoarders and looters and it may be the accurate prediction. History does indicate that societies in such turmoil are reduced to basic animalistic behavior and basic survival becomes the number one priority, food, water, shelter and defense against attack.
So, all that being said, I would definitely have a pistol on my side 24/7 and that would be a Glock 21, I don't believe that high quality hp ammo would be available for very long and .45 acp fmj's are a much better option than fmj's of the other popular handgun calibers.
I also think the grocery stores would be pillaged pretty quickly so food would be the next priority and that's where my next choice is debatable and that is one of my Marlin 60's .22lr. I believe that in a shtf or apocalypse scenario a .22lr rifle would be a great option for getting food, rabbits, squirrels, birds, etc.. I get that those animals could become scarce as most of the entire population would probably be doing the same thing, but for animals of opportunity the .22lr would be a great option. You can carry tons of .22lr ammo and the report isn't as loud so as to not attract too much attention and can be used in a defensive situation in a pinch. No one is going to willingly stand around to get peppered with .22lr.
My next choice would probably be my 12-gauge 870, the shotgun is probably one of the most versatile weapons ever, from bird shot to buck shot to slugs it pretty much covers the entire gamut, within range of course. The downside is the size and bulk of the ammo you would have to keep for it and it's limited range, but for a strictly utilitarian firearm it's hard to beat a 12-gauge.
My last choice would probably depend on the actual situation, if there are throngs of gangs out there raping and pillaging at will and bent on destruction, I would definitely have to take my AR15 in 6.8 spc equipped with red dot and magnifier. I know it's not the most popular round available, but I have lots of it and it works, it works better than 5.56 and I completely trust its effectiveness. I'd have a better chance of stopping a charging vehicle with it and shooting through cover than 5.56.
So there's my four, if I had to choose six more then I'd take my scoped bolt action .30-06, an AK-47, my Ruger EC9s for deep concealment, Glock 19 and probably two more Marlin 60's for spares.

I think some this is situational to the location. For me in Florida, I would heavily consider light weight systems. If I have to really move, I need to be able to carry and conceal comfortably.

Glock 19/17
AR15
Ruger 22LR Revolver
22LR revolver
Ruger or Marlin 22LR rifle
S&W 686
mossberg 500

10's alot but if I needed to carry a few it would an AR, 22 revolver and a Glock 19.

Just my thoughts.

2 is 1, 1 is none. Double the list below with exact copies:

1. 16” AR in 5.56
2. Glock 17 or 19 , gen3 prefered
3. Quality hunting rifle in .270, 30/06 ,or .308
4. Mossberg or Remington 12ga with 18” barrel
5. Any quality bolt action .22lr

Add to that a metric ton of spare parts, magazines, cleaning supplies, and ammunition. If I need something else it will have to be stolen, acquired after a fire fight, or worked around.

Don't need 10 guns... A 20" AR rifle... a 10.5" AR pistol/SBR... Mossberg 590... A 17, a 43X... MAYBE a 10/22...

That's about all I'm going to be able to carry or feed. The rest of my capacity is going to be mags and ammo. And anything I need OTHER than that, I'll get along the way.
