It's been a hot minute since I've cared about 9mm ammo. Have a Glock incoming and am looking to round out my stash.

Are the following ammo mfrs still considered good to go in terms of bulk range blasting ammo?

Aguila
Geco
CCI
Privi PPU
Blazer
PMC
Remington*
Winchester*
Fiocchi
Federal*

*It pains me to even ask about these supposedly reputable companies but at the rate things are getting acquired and going bankrupt and acquired again so forth, who knows these days?

Forgot to mention one of favs for practice. Winchester 124gr. NATO. These chrono close to 1200 fps out of 4". Good if you want replicate hot carry loads and working on split times and front sight acquisition on follow-ups. I used to get in bulk from S&G. They ain't cheap. :)

Other than Geco, I shoot and have a fair stock of all these brands in 9mm. Actually, other than PPU. I use PPU rifle rounds all the time, but havent shot any of their pistol rounds in a while.

Those are all GTG.

I will say this about Fiocchi, not 9mm but customer service:
I have a LCP 380 and the Fiocchi 380 XTP bullet was too long OAL for either of my magazines; I had purchased three 25 round boxes. Contacted Fiocchi about the issue, they ended up sending me six 50 round boxes of FMJ as a replacement, which I thought was more than fair.

I avoid Venom, Aguila, all steel cased and the Eastern European crap because I reload and have had issues trying to load the brass. Blazer, Fiocchi, PMC, and virtually all USA ammo are good to go. Crimped primer brass goes in the scrap bucket because life’s too short and there’s 9mm laying everywhere.

PS: I only shoot my reloads. Remanufactured ammo need not apply.

GECO I believe is Swiss or something, I think a NATO supplier... had no problems with their .223 at least.

Thanks for the comments guys, appreciate it.

Seems like deciding on range ammo for a Glock is a crap ton easier than for an AR15 you are trying to squeeze accuracy out of... all that really matters is if it goes BANG, does NOT go KABOOM, and cycles.

Just as a data point on the "bulk" ammo topic, the differences I've observed between Federal's 'Champion' 9mm product and HST are pretty astounding. Maybe try disassembling some of this stuff sometime.

I basically trust HST, although I do at least case it. Champion looks like rounds that didn't make it through Q/C.

Yes, true. And if you only shoot 7-10 yards freehand you will probably never see the difference.

But, there are sometimes significant group size differences by brand, bullet weight, and per different guns. Most don't talk about that because it meets their need and is good enough so they don't benchrest and measure.

Can't remember if this was for 9mm or .40 w/o checking my notebooks, but differences as large as 3-4" group for one range ammo and 11"+ for another ammo from the same Glock gun at 25 yards off a rest. Both were name brand ammo, and I found the opposite trend in the other caliber.

So it is good to experiment.

Don't doubt your observations. Did not like it or Federal in general in my 9 mms.

However, Federal Champion .40 180 gr. is the best/one of the best grouping range ammo in my G23s. Go figure.

I've had some consistency issues with GECO .38 Special. I shoot it through my Rossi Model 92 carbine. Most of it goes Boom while an occasional round will go BOOM. Also, I bought a case of it around a year or so ago from SGAmmo and when I checked the contents of the box, there were about four boxes of .357 Magnum mixed in with the .38 Special. I know, a bonus right, but that is not what I was needing. The main box didn't appear to have been opened before I got it.
