I found a stash of about 20,000 .22LR I had squirreled away and forgotten about.

Problem is I no longer have any .22 handguns. I haven’t shot 22 in years and only have a couple of .22 rifles I use for squirrel hunting.

Bud’s has one of the Beretta 92 clones in .22 for about $350. Problem is it comes with one 15rd magazine and spares appear to be non-existent.

The Beretta 92 is my all time favorite and I would love to have one in 22 to tinker with.

Anyone have one? The limited research I have done on YT showed several videos where hundreds of rounds were fired without any malfunctions. That’s pretty good for a .22, I used to have to swab the bore/chamber and relube often to keep my .22’s cycling reliably.

Think magazines will become available or are they done supporting this gun?

What are you expecting to do with it, besides it pretending to be a Beretta 92? Umarex makes several 22's look alike on the outside originals. If you are thinking that it will be just like the 92 9mm, you are fantasizing. It is a next step up from airsoft or airgun.

Newest Taurus and Glock models probably offer more after sale support. If you are going for hundreds of rounds before cleaning, that would be ammo dependent. If it feeds, and if it fouls.

Have the look and feel of a platform that I am very familiar with and quite a big fan of. Be an option for cheap practice at the indoor range while the heat of the summer is on and shooting outside is unappealing. And be reliable shooting cheap bulk purchased .22 LR ammo since 9mm ammo is price gouged and difficult to source right now.

I hope all your squirreled away Ammo is ALL high velocity. I have known only one .22 pistol that will cycle any .22 Ammo. Beretta Neos. Does not require much of a powder charge to keep cycling. From 750 FPS on up. My other ones all require a minimum of 1150 FPS. Have fun and enjoy!

So many better options other than Umarex junk
Meh. I’ll tinker with it for it for a while and if it sucks I’ll sell it to the local shop for $100 less than I paid for it.

It’s not likely to be the kind of gun I will hang onto for a long time anyway. Covid quarantine has me bored to death, and I wanted something interesting to shoot up all this 22 I have come across.

I found a few video reviews on it last night an they all had a positive review on it. Especially in the reliability department. It seemed to run reliably on a wide selection of ammo, something a lot of 22 semi autos won’t do.

It’s $350 bucks, it’s not like my kid won’t eat this month.

Reviews look good! You got ammo! Is available! Kid won't go hungry! Go get it and have fun!

.
That’s a good shop. Around here shops will only pay slightly over half of what you paid for it. Of course with shortages of guns and ammo right now it might be better, haven’t sold a gun to a shop in a very long time.

I have a 1911 with CWA parts that runs 100% and have won couple steel Challenge matches with it. Magazine can be found and also work in my Kimber 22 Target. In the past had a MP5 clone and it also worked well. I'd say the Umarex stuff runs good. If it were me I'd look at a Ruger Mk unless you really want a copy of the Beretta.

This is last line is where most people go wrong with 22’s
Cheap bulk ammo is the #1 cause of most pistols or rifles that fail to run well.
Bulk ammo is the cheapest least quality controlled product a factory produces, so don’t expect flawless performance.
Also I have also seen 22 ammo start to get scarce again, so lucky you have a bunch
What kind of ammo do you have? That will determine as much as the quality of the gun how well things will run

I don't really like "Plinker" 22's. Plinking is a lot more fun if you can hit teh target more often thean not. I'd much rather have a more accurate Ruger Mk4 or a Browning Buckmark.

I like the idea of a "Trainer" for a centerfire gun, but the umerex Beretta's aren't all that much like the originals and seem 'cheap' to me, And $350 seems a little pricey for one of those.

I think for that amount of money I'd rather have the Beretta factory 22LR conversion for the 92.

I have a Ruger 22/45 Tactical and it runs 100% with any .22LR ammo including CCI Quiet-22 which is rated at 835 FPS .

Good to know. Just sharing my personal experience. .22 ammo is notorious for not cycling. I find CCI mini mags to shoot in any .22 firearm i have seen. Some guns are very finicky. The makers shouldnt allow them out the door if they will not accept all .22 ammo. Or strictly specify what they will only shoot. Thanks!

I have the Beretta M9 22lr without the rail for 5 years now. It's had thousands of federal bulk pack through it most unsuppressed since I had the barrel threaded. I bought 10 extra mags a few black Fridays ago for $18 each. The only problem I've had was the metal side of the safety broke off while at the range but sent it to Beretta and had back in two weeks. Even when that broke the other side still worked so it didn't ruin the range day. They're great guns and I recommend them to everyone.

The majority of it is CCI Blazer. My local shop stocked it years ago for a good price and I picked up a brick almost everytime I was in there.

My Savage MKII rifle would shoot it into a ragged hole at 50 yards.

It’s decent stuff.

I picked it up today. The safety/decocker, magazine release, DA and SA trigger all feel Almost identical to my real M9.

We shall see how it shoots tomorrow afternoon. It feels pretty darn solid to me, and feels no more like a “toy” than my Ruger MKI.

Hopefully I can find a few extra mags for it in the near future.

Here’s a really lousy picture of it.

I finally made it to the range to shoot this new Beretta .22

I did a quick cleaning and lubed it excessively prior to shooting. I wanted it to have the best chance at reliability.

I brought a half dozen different varieties of .22 LR to try out, all cheap plinking ammo. I had no jamming of any kind. I fired ~400 rounds today, which was no small task with only 1 magazine. That’s impressive reliability for a .22 semi-auto IMO.

I did however have dozens of FTF shooting Remington Golden Bullets. Literally 1-3 FTF per magazine. A few fired on a second strike, but the majority did not. I tried them in my Ruger MK I with the same results, so it wasn’t the new gun’s fault. That’s an utterly ridiculous failure rate, even for cheap bulk pack .22 LR. It was good malfunction clearance practice anyway.

I was really impressed with how well it replicated the feel of my real Beretta M9. Everything felt spot on.

The magazine is one of the best .22 LR handguns mags uses I have ever used. I was skeptical of a 15rd double column .22 magazine. It was very easy to load and didn’t hurt my thumbs like some .22 mags do.

Accuracy was very mediocre. Granted I was only shooting relatively cheap plinking ammo. Even so, it was not capable of one ragged hole accuracy past 10 yards. Some ammo types also shot WAY high above POA. However, it was perfectly acceptable accuracy for plinking cheap practice IMO.

400 rounds of ammo without any cycling issues is pretty darn good IMO for a .22 semi-auto. I was quite impressed with that. I believe I will keep it. Hopefully I can find some spare magazines in the near future.

Here is the assortment of ammo I tried:

All cheap stuff except for the Stangers. I tried a few of them. They cycled reliably but shot about a foot high at 25 yards. The gun came with two front sight blades. I may try the taller sight and see if that gets my POA/POI closer together.

15 rounds of the bulk pack Golden Bullets at 25 yards. Off-hand. Not very impressive IMO.

I have about a dozen different types of ammo at the house. Maybe I can find one it likes significantly better than these.

I even put an old TRL-2 on the rail and played with the laser a little bit. I have never had a Beretta with a rail on it before.
