Haha, thought I was the first to post about this, but I see this thread already exist: https://www.glocktalk.com/threads/new-glock-g46-in-german-magazine.1676552/

My opinion is that Glock shouldn't have given this model its own number. They should've just called it a G19 Gen 5 GM (for German Military or whoever this is being made for). Point being, giving the gun its own number seems like a waste. I don't have many other thoughts about this.

Given that the method of operation is completely different than *any* other Glock ever made, I think a different model number is 100% appropriate.

It's the first new idea Glock has brought to their guns in over 30 years. If they can't give the gun its own model number, then what DOES merit a new model number?

True it is a more significant change than what we've seen in previous "Gens" of Glocks, but it's still essentially a Glock 19. You don't think it could be confusing from a marketing standpoint to call a G19 with a rotating barrel a G46?

What I meant was that it's so close to a Gen 5 that it wouldn't have much of a market in the US. We also just got the Gen 5s too, lol.
So close? Seriously? Did you bump your head or just not see just about everything is different except the profile, and even that is different.

...Different internals don't change the fact that we've had that same **** for over 30 years.
Wow. If you isolate that statement and just sit and look at it, it looks pretty..... silly...

I can see how this deserves its own model number. For one thing it would make it easier for parts control. Glock 46 barrel as opposed to Glock 19 barrel regular and Glock 19 barrel rotating seems more likely to create a problem.

I think the important question is when can we expect grip plugs being available for them.

Your logic is severely flawed.

I don't understand what is gained by the "rotating barrel lockup?"

Having it's own model number seems purposeful since rotating barrel and other internals seem significantly different than the norm. I'm curious of what G44 and G45 may be and if they'll even sell that G46 here in the states? If they don't then maybe it shouldn't get its own model number unless German insignia is on it.
