Well, I traded in my G21SF with ambi safety for a brand new HK45 "Ergo".

This will basically be a bedside gun and range gun, as was the G21SF. I don't really carry and when I do, I carry a G27. So the size of the HK doesn't concern me and the grip feels MUCH better than the G21.

I have long fingers, but even the G21 was a bit much. I'm very used to single stack 1911's, and the HK feels great.

Side note: I put myself through college in the early 1980's driving an armored car. My carry piece was an HK P7...quite "exotic" for those days....which I still had it. But when my armored car company started allowing single action semis, I switched to a 1911.

I'll post pics later....recharging camera.

Good job Im not a Glock fan either(ONLY because of the horrid grips. and grip thickness. I'd love them ...if you could take a M&P grip and throw it on a Glock...perfect gun for me lol) but id have traded that in on the HK in a second! Congrats.

thanks sir. I'm on vacation this week....hopefully I'll get some range time.

Let's see, you traded for a pistol that is more accurate, more reliable, has a better trigger and probably fits you hand much better. Sounds like a good trade to me.

yes...simple decision for me. :wavey:

My guess is that you will enjoy shooting the H&K more than the g21.

thanks. As soon as I picked it up, it felt like an old pair of blue jeans.

OK?
Anywho, you'll love the HK45, especially if you handload. The HK45 is much more tolerant of different bullet shapes, COL's, power levels, etc...
Super accurate out to 50 yards with a good load. Jacketed SWC's were especially accurate in mine.
thanks. Ambi= ambidextrous safety

Very nice pistol. Congratulations!
How's the trigger (I've heard it's the only complain some people have with this model)?

I knew that I shouldn't have checked out this thread. I've been busy tracking the arrival of my P30 V1 LEM at my local LGS, so I've been reading up quite a bit on the H&K stuff...then this thread got me interested in finding out what the big deal is with the HK45 and HK45c models.

A very quick call to an LGS nearby my workplace had me there on my lunch break to see both models and test them out in-hand. Well, I seem to prefer the big guy over the 45c, although I know that I'll probably end up with both at some time in the near future.

The HK45 was a very solid-feeling pistol in-hand, and the grip was nice, the action was nice, and the safety/decocking lever seems like it'll be fairly easy to learn when I get mine. I'm talking about this week, too.

I've got some duplicates in my collection, and I think that I'll be doing some work to remove some night sights on one of them (my beloved G21 Gen3 nightstand pistol) and putting the stock sights back on, and I'll be doing a little spit polishing on the others.

I think that I've been bitten pretty badly by the H&K bug, and I can't wait to send some rounds downrange with one, especially after reading about how the HK45 likes to eat a wide variety of handloaded ammo.

Congrats on your new HK45, and thanks for making me confirm what I knew what was going to happen anyway...I should have mine sometime in the next few days.

While my only Glock is a G20. To give up a G21 for a HK anything is fools gold. My .45 acp is a late 2007 M&P .45 and there is no way I would trade that weapon for a G21 much less a way over priced HK.

Will you be a better shooter with the new over priced pistol? or will you be one of those poor sots that has a Mazda3 Speed that is sure they will be a better driver with a BMW M3?
