Chuck Conners in the Rifleman has to be on the top of the list of TV killers. I started watching the old reruns on and counted about 90 deaths attributed to him in the first season. Reading the credits after the show it became apparent why it was so violent, the producer of the first couple seasons was Sam Peckinpah (later of Bonny and Clyde, and The Wild Bunch fame, among other violent films).

BTW, Luke McCain was shot about a dozen times, stabbed a couple more, hanged, beaten, tortured and taken prisoner at least another dozen in each season. The little town he lived in had to be the most violent place in the country at the time. If I was his kid I would have run away from home.

Peckinpah didn't direct Bonnie and Clyde. Chick Conners was tougher than Chuck Norris. There, I said it.

For real, its certainly Jimmy Stewart, with Audie Murphy second.

Clint Eastwood killed a lot of Nazi's in "Where Eagles Dare"

David Niven probably got more in The Guns of Navarone but that was with explosives.

But Gunsmoke was on a lot longer and Matt Dillon was not exactly shy and retiring either.

While not real "actors" The SEALS/MARSOC/NSW/Aviation guys in Act of Valor would probably give them a run for their money.

I agree with that. I cant even remember a Clint Eastwood movie where he killed enough people for it to phase me. Plus, Clint Eastwood is an actor. For this to apply you would have to say Josie Whales, or Dirty Harry, etc...
Clint racked up a respectable count in "where eagles dare".

Edit: didn't see that someone else already mentioned this.

Holy crap, the things you can find on the internet. The movie character with the most kills in one movie.

And here is the rest of the list.

Rambo would be Number One on that list then, the rules were for a character, not a character in a single movie. Rambo is on the list three times in the top 20, that makes him the winner.

The Rifleman was a rather progressive show back in the days. It featured a black gunfighter and a Chinese gunfighter. Both were killed by The Rifleman - the white man, of course. But still it was the thought that counts.

That show ran for like 20 seasons. I don't know if Matt killed one in every show, but I would imagine his gun butt was pretty notched up. He was the first one I thought of.
