Great. After having my blood work done today, the doc placed me on Zocor.

Damn, I'm not overweight, I'm 38, and I'm already on cholesterol meds. I have quit drinking, so maybe that will help. I DO NOT want to stay on this drug.

    Anyone else taking Zocor?

I guess I need to back off my proteins, and go back to oatmeal in the mornings.

After my heart attack this year my doc put me on Lipitor. It seems to be working for me. No side effects that I'm aware of.

Zocor makes your hair fall out; lipitor prevents heart attacks.

Big deal dude. Seriously. Take it and if you have no side effects move on with your life.

It's a small price to pay to try and stay healthy. I'm on 7 different meds including anti-cloristral (sp?), BP and anti-rejection after my kidney transplant.

you will shave less, I've been taking lipitor for 15 yrs or so. Liver ok, slightly up, but within range.

Stay tired all the time, what I used to do all day, now takes all day.

You will be fine. I believe simvastastin is generic for Zocor

Did anyone try to modify their diet and exercise program to lower their bad cholesterol?

Yes I did and drinking two glasses of red wine per day and excercise helped a little but not to the extent of what the Doctor wanted so Tri-cor first then switched to Zocor.tom.
