Impact guns had a Ronin 9mm on its website last night, so I snatched it up. I've never even fired (or owned) a 9mm 1911 before, so I'm excited to get it. It looks well built, with a forged slide & frame, pinned extractor, with a few bells & whistles. Your thoughts on this pistol ?

Should be a very nice pistol for you. I'm up to 3 S.A. 1911's and think you get a very good gun for the money. Have a 5" R.O. in 9mm, a elite in 10mm and a new elite 9mm compact.
The new 9mm compact is back at S.A. Out of the box it wouldn't go into battery completely without bumping the slide forward. Playing with gauges found the chamber to tight. One call to S.A. and I had a return tag. I'm confident they'll fix it.
    And yes, I think a 9mm 1911 is a great shooting platform.

I normally like Springfields but I have no experience with the Ronin. I will say I have a full size 1911 chambered in 9mm. It is a very soft shooter and a lot of fun on the range. Mine is a Kimber though

I haven't shot one but I do have a mil spec 1911 from SA and I would snatch one up in a second if I could find one in person

Like most 1911's now a days, the Ronin ships with only one magazine. I've always trusted Wilson Combat 47D Mags for 45acp variants. Which mags are preferred for 9mm 1911's?

My 2 9mm S.A.'s came with Checkmate mags and have not had a problem out of them. I have five 10 round mags from Brownell's that were flawless for years of IDPA use. I not sure who made them. I don't think they're Metalform, of which I have a couple that have been flawless also.
