I was helping someone track a package earlier and long story short it said "Your package is being delivered by the USPS as the shipper requests it".

Had a bit of a hard time finding where it was because USPS reported to UPS that the package was delivered, which is wasn't. Surprise surprise.

UPS dropped it off at the post office, who then sent it to the wrong place.

They had actually delivered it to a previous address that was no where on the package. I had no idea the UPS & USPS were in cahoots now. Teaming up to piss people off even more

I had this happen with a package but it was a non-issue as the package got to me with no issues. I'm not sure if the USPS is outsourcing parcels to UPS now or something else is going on.

Maybe they figure the mail trucks can do the final leg for them and save gas compared to the big trucks. This is a very small town, just a few thousand people & the mail trucks run the route every day anyway.

It being a small town is what caused the problem, the postal workers knew the person by name & delivered it to their previous address.

I ordered 1k of 5.56MM M193, it was shipped FedEx. I tracked it, and saw while at work it was delievered. I live in an aparmtent, and the delivery services always leave packages at the apartment office for residents to pick up.

Once I got home, I went to the office to pick it up, and it wasn't there.

Found the case of ammo sitting against my apartment door.

Could be. I can't remember how the item was supposed to ship (UPS or USPS).

I think the vendors choose it to reduce their shipping costs whilst increasing their shipping profits. My cigar vendor started this a few months ago; at first, my orders came in the same 24hr period, now they arrive a day or two later. I believe it's called "UPS Express", it needs another name......

Fedex has the same gimmick. It's called Smart Post.

I had pretty bad experience with that "UPS hands it to USPS" shipping method.

Two weeks after the estimated delivery date I found a note on my door that said "third and final notice, the package is available for pickup". Never got the first two notes. Mind you, it's a business address. Someone is there all day, and we get the regular mail (bills, junk, USPS packages) without any problem.

You should try using a PO box at the UPS Store. Regular mailing address that can receive UPS and FedEx packages, unlike USPS PO boxes.

Actually it's UPS Mail Innovations or UPS-MI. UPS does the bulk of the package handling and then drops it off at the local USPS sort facility to be delivered to the customer. I think it's very cool stuff, when it works right.

I ship USPS quite a bit for my sharpening service. Something that has been working for me with USPS is taking a digital camera to the post office and taking a picture of the final form of the package sent. I have all billing attached and the postal clerk in the frame as well.

NOTE: I had a priority small box package that was lost in shipping by USPS (OH to CA), took the pict back into the postmaster and the lost package magically showed back up in about ten days.

I have also noticed that when you use delivery confirmation on priority mail it seldom is lost but when you do not it almost always has a problem. :dunno: YMMV

Shouldn't be necessary. Part of my rent is paying for an office staff to accept large packages. They do it for the entire building, it's SOP. I can't imagine why this particular package ended up in the hallway in front of my door.

Maybe Fedex didn't get the memo on that part of your lease agreement.

Back when they were patching up the USS Dolphin, the UPS guy put a notice on the barge saying that he could not locate the barge.

Only sub on the base, only barge on the pier. :dunno:

In this area, SOP, no answer at the apt. door, deliver to the office.
