Whats the best deal that you have ever got on a gun?
I was given a .22 once when I was a kid that my Uncle won in a gun raffle, nothing too special.

One of my very good friend's wife sold me the mdl 41.
It was hers, and she wanted to get her husband a Walther PPK/s for his birthday (and needed the $$$), and so she offered the pistol to me.
The 'catch' is. . . if I EVER decide to sell it, she get's first dibs on the buyback.

This is the story everyone wants to happen to them, but always happens to someone else.

    I am that someone else.

the neighbors next door were nice with my family for at least fifteen years we lived next to them; they saw me from a 10 year old kid though college and back in the area as an adult. They would even come over for holidays like 4th of July, and I'd always babysit their animals when they were out of town, or help out with odd job that were too difficult for an old timer to do anymore.

a few years ago, the husband passed away. A few weeks after we attended the funeral, his widow called me for some help; I Went over and after doing some furniture moving and some cleaning and stuff for a couple of hours, the conversation turned; she asked me if I liked guns.
Thinking she was feeling unsafe, I told her of course, and if she needed one for protection, I had plenty she could borrow.

    She ended up giving me her husbands modest collection of 6 rifles and shotguns, along with 5 pistols. additional treasures like ammo, holsters, and odd parts kept coming my way over the next year or so as she went through all his stuff. nothing rare or fancy, but quality working guns;

I guess the prize of it all was a semi auto browning 12GA, or maybe the Remington 700 rifle. there were 3 revolvers, including a Dan Wesson 357 with 4 interchangeable barrels, and a Beretta 84 and a Colt Govt model 45ACP. They are all part of my collection today, and I regret having moved away from the area and losing touch.

I've been gifted guns, but I don't think about those when I think of the word "deal." Me? I usually get hosed.

However, I knew a man named Roy who owned a barber shop that had a small pawn shop in the back in Othello, WA. Some kid brought in a SxS shotgun, and Roy had no clue what it was. Told him he'd give him $75 for it, and the kid took it. Turned out to be a Winchester Model 21.

Back in the '90s, the guy who worked on shotguns at Wade's Eastside Gun Shop in Bellevue took in trade a Winchester Model 12 in .410. He was able to buy it for $275.

I never get deals like that, and I feel like throwing a pity party right about now.

My father was divorced and I lived with him and my sisters. He owned a couple of apartments houses. He slept with a 1911 under his pillow. When he died (I was in the Navy) I got his 1911.

Had to drive the shell out of the chamber, cause it hadn't been cleaned for 10/15 years.
It was the original military without one safety. And for the feint of heart, it hadn't shot itself during all this time. Anyway I was too stupid to hang on to it -- Traded it for an Erma .22

    Nothing real great.

Last year I bought a HK45 LNIB for $500, which I thought was pretty damn good.

True story- 3 years ago- Guy in Southern California got a woman pregnant, future mom didnt want guns in the house AND he had some anger management issues. I guess some court order came down and he had to get rid of the fairly new Glock 17 pronto.

$250 dollars later- mine. He didnt even do the required paperwork, just sent it straight up to me.
