Embarrassed but need help. Glock 34 purchased yesterday after owning many other handguns. Long story short: I put the slide back on and forgot the recoil rod and spring, and now the slide will not come off.

I Googled but found nothing specific. Any leads?

Thank you (first post on glocktalk, what an intro).

pull the trigger, then take the slide off like normal with the take down lever...

ps, no one ever "forgets" to put the recoil spring on and try to reassemble, its something you did becasuse you were curious as to what would happen if you did it....

I don't know about no one ever forgets... When I went through the Armorer's course, they showed us how to field strip it without the recoil spring assembly. Their theory was that as many times as we were going to be taking it apart and putting it back together someone was gonna leave it out...

:upeyes::upeyes::upeyes:... There are times when I have several glocks sitting in front of me field stripped- There has been more than one time where the recoil spring was almost left out upon being put back together... It can be a common mistake, especially with someone new to Glocks or guns in general.

    Is it EMPTY?(unloaded)

Push the slide forward in to place (it will be slightly to the rear)

Point in a safe direction pull trigger

    remove slide
