[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cSxSqjRmxIE"]Yarnell Hill Briefing Video - YouTube[/ame]

Released today Saturday September 28th 2013

This is a Case Study of the Yarnell Fire in AZ where the Granite Mountain Hotshots were killed. Each time a Wildland Firefighter is killed a Case Study is done. We(Wildland Firefighters) use these to learn from the Deaths of others how not to make the same mistakes, Yeah The Hotshots made mistakes, as did many others involved in this incident all of which contributed to the deaths of the 19 Granite Mountain Hotshots.

I hope that this will answer any questions those interested may have. The video is 21 minutes long but moves quickly. It confirmed my fears, my fear being that this was entirely preventable.

I can't comment on the tactics used or anything like that since I don't know wildland firefighting. But it seems the team was going down a hill towards their designated safety area and lost line of sight on the fire. During that time, the wind picked up and the fire overtook them.
