Are these decent bikes? Checked out a 2006 V Max the other day and was wondering if anyone here has had any experience with this bike.

There is quite of a cult following for Mr. Max. From the factory, the suspension setup is rather wanting, so lots of people spend a considerable amount of effort modifying the suspension. Anything from upside down forks to double rear shocks from the FJ1200.

And of course, it was and still is a power cruiser. Potent by any standard.

There is a rumor that 2007 or 2008 that a new Mad Max is coming out, and the concept bike looks incredibly mean.

The V Max has always been an awesome bike and I've always wanted one. As fnfalman said the suspension, as far back as I can remember, was a bit primitive and they are more of a straight line bike than a canyon carver. With that motor though whose cares.

Thanks for the replys. It looked like a pretty cool bike in a news paper ad. I happened to pass a yamaha dealer and stopped in. Everyone was hanging around the crotch rockets and nobody was checking out the v-max.

V-Max tons of power and a hoot in a straight line. Some even add stuff to make it 250 rwhp. I know you don't think it can be done with a stock internal engine, carbed bike.

Corners? Ah well you will need to fix that if you want to go fast and take the corners.

Finally I got a picture of what I coined "Mad Max".

This sucker has trick front & rear suspensions, supercharged, nitrous, the whole shebang.

Mine is a bone stock '96. And it still scares the crap out of me at times.
