I need to hear from those that have shot with both standard and big dot XS 24/7's.

I need to know if the big dot has a noticeable advantage with speed in lining up the sights over the standard dot. If it doesn't then I need to get the standard dot as it will inherently be more accurate.

I suspect most of the speed comes from the "dot the i" design, and maybe partly due to the size of the dot. (Over 3 dot design dot sizes)

I have never actualy shot with the xs sights yet, but plan to use them for ccw.

I have shot both extensively and I prefer the XS and have it on my G26.

    Works as advertised.

So... You don't like the big dot?

Or is it that you just couldn't be happier?

You can't get the big dots right now for the G19 platform. Got tired of waiting and went with Truglow trijicon/fiberoptic combo.

I love my Big Dot! It's alot easier to see than standard pistol sights.

For a self defense gun, go Big! I saw the standards on a couple guns at the NRA meetings last year and it was pretty small. I guess they started with that then improved it by going bigger.

Only complaint is I figured a bigger dot would how bigger. However it's kind of small. But considering you'll have a flashlight or weapon light, not a problem.

HAVE THE STANDARD on my S&W J frame. Rear of gun is rear site. Can shoot 3 ince groups freehand at 10 meters. Old eyes 68 years. Very easy to pick up front sight. Would not want bigger dot. I like accuracy. ymmv.

It's been my experience that speed in picking up a sight picture comes from having a rear that doesn't catch your eye, and a front that does catch your eye. Your eyes try to "read" the picture in front of you when you've got markings on the front and rear, so your focus jumps between them. Having a black rear and noticeable front really helps you "see" your front, while focusing on your target. That's how it works for me, anyway.

The XS system works similarly... somewhat unobtrusive rear, big, noticeable front. Personally, I'd go for the big dot, and get the most out of the concept (which is for you to focus on the target, and "see" your dot where you want your shots to go).

I had a set of big dots on a G23. As far as I am concerned they worked as advertised. I think that if you are going to go with the XS sights, go all the way, big dot. They aren't meant to be high precision sights to start with.

I found with my big dots on my G22 I have to tilt the gun up a little to get accurate shots past 10 yards. Shoots low unless I do that. But up close they work great.
However, I think I'll stick to regular sights on my next sight change on whatever gun that may be.

I have had both standard and big dot. I still have a set of big dots on a G22 that is my carry gun. The standard XS I had on a G19. I always felt as though the standard dot was just as quick to pick up and easier to use at distance. That being said I used the Big Dots during a training where I was seven or so yards out. The scenerios were high speed and it was easy to make hits when others were not. I say try them both and see what you like. I had a friend that used standard dots on a sig he used for competation and he was just as quick and accurate as any other.

The Big Dot sight is great for CCW, when you're most likely shooting no further than 10 yards. Big dot, fast sight acquisition with acceptable accuracy.

For a *competition* gun, where you need good accuracy out to 25 yards, that is the last sight I would use.

For me this is the best explanation of the big dot sighting system, along the lines of "front sight win in a gun fight".

I've found the "I"'ing the dot as opposed to dotting the "I" is how these sight work best, see your target, extend your weapon and you'll find your front sight on the target almost immediately.

    Just my $0.02 worth,
