Traded my XD40 Tactical yesterday for a new Bi Tone XD45 Tactical. The 40 was a nice gun but, well it wan't a 45! Seriously, I liked the XD45 service models I had looked at, but the slide seemed too "short" for the length of the grip, IMO. But I love the look of the tactical length and when I finally saw a XD45 5", i traded my 40 and some cash and came home with a new ccw piece.

I love Glocks, but (for me) the grip feels too big on their G21. I can handle and shoot it fine, but it just doesn't "feel" right and I never keep them. The grip of this new XD45 is fantastic. It hardly feels any larger than the grip of the XD40 I traded, and in fact it fits in the same holster I was using for the 40. Glock seems auful slow to "changes" lately (how about the big SHOT show announcement fiasco last spring?). But judging by the sales Springfield is posting with their XD series in general, and the XD45s in particular, I predict it will be less than a year before Glock either redesigns the G21 or comes out with a new "slimmer" full size 45. Well, I guess time will tell. In the meantime, if you're looking for a nice polymer 45acp, I highly reccomend the XD45. It's the best thing since a 1911!:rollsmiley:

Aglocker1911, I also own the .45 Tac, love that damn thing, great shooter, love it more every time I fire it, at least twice a week.

But carry? I can`t do it...tooo big for a small guy like myself.

What do you use for carry? IWB? OWB? Smartcarry? or another?

Just curious how you do it, I would like to, after all, IT`S A .45 !!!! LOL

I use an IWB, but I am a fairly big guy (6'2 and 240). I've carried ccw in an IWB holster for over twenty years, mostly a 1911, a few times a Glock, so I really don't find it that hard to hide, but I guess I'm used to a big gun, nothing else "feels" right. Size wise it seems about the same as the 1911s I've carried. A touch thicker but a little lighter. A good belt and a loose shirt and I'm good to go!

    $508.79 OTD?? 5" Tactical? Where? Around here I can't find a Tactical 5" .45 XD under $600.

No, I'm not missing out. Had a G37 "been there done that". It is a nice pistol, but while I tried to be behind the GAP, I am afraid it will eventually fade. No other manufacturers are chambering a gun for it like promised, and with a gun the size of the XD in 45acp, it will be a hard sell for Glock to push the GAP. I'm sure they will keep it around, but that's about it.

I guarantee (if you don't believe me, do a search for slimline or single stack 45) that if Glock offered a smalled "gripped" 45acp in a full size pistol, even if it "only" held 8 rounds, dealers wouldn't be
able to keep them in stock. I honestly believe that that is why the XD45 took off like it did.

I'm sure they'll release it at the same time as the Glock Carbine, single stack 9/.40/.357, and all of the other stuff that everybody on this board thinks Glock just has to release to "stay competitive".

    At least you tried it.
It's as slim as you are going to get from Glock right now.
And - worse worse case happens. GAP discontinued. You don't reload. You're only a slide/barrel/mag away from a G-17.

    G-36?

Note - Bi Tone XD45 Tactical is an awsome pistol. Wish I had one. We're just talking shop. :)

When Kahr announced they were going to make a 45 I thought it would likely be a 45GAP as they could could make it smaller than a .45ACP and maybe use some more parts from their .40S&W and 9MM. Now that it appears Springfield Dealers are discounting the Gap it may be a sign that the GAP is almost dead.

are you talking about impact guns?
blowing out the 45gap XD's for $400 each?
IMO that's not much of a discount - esp considering Glock LEO pricing

seems to me that if Springfield truly wants to discount their GAP's they need to be down in the $250 price that Steyr's were at CDNN last year - if they go down to $250 Im jumping on a 4" and a 5"

the XD45 acp a great gun..... but I truly believe that the 45 gap is here to stay - Glock has a good thing going & he is not going to abandon it.

alot of the 45 gap complaints center around ammo cost and availability - which is all relative - sure it is a little more than 45 acp, but dirt cheap compared to SS196/SS197 5.7x28

I also have a XD45 Tac and love it. It has been 100% with about 6-700 rds now. BTW, I'm 5'9" and 185lbs. and I OWB carry under a large button up shirt except for work where I have to wear uniform polos. Then my Kel Tec P11 goes in front pocket.

I also have a G22; I love it, won't part with it, but the XD is now my choice for CCW.
