If you hate the FP safety then why not go pre-II? Not trying to debate it as I do like the SA's a bit more but it's just an option.
Well if anyone has one, I’ll take it but since they are so rare...
The majority of my 1911s are springers, and I just prefer them.
In my original post I stated just that, but I had to settle for this pistol (traded my custm G21 for it). So now I’m trying to get what I actually want.

What happened to the slide?
Nothing, I asked for spare extractor parts for it (gun was to be used as a comp. gun). The guys at Kimber's Warranty shop told me they no longer make those parts (EE extrator), and to send it in for a slide replacement.
I’m back in town and pictures should be up tonight. Pistol has only wear marks inside the mag. well.

Can the FP safety be removed without disabling the gun?
You have to remove the slide, and then the rear sight.
I’m trying to get rid of it, because I shoot the snot out of all my pistols. When parts begin to break or fails, it becomes my next project, and gets all parts rebuild from the frame up.
Once my pistol has been rebuild, it’s going to be carried by me at some point, and I refuse to carry any gun with an inop safety device. That is why all my custom builds are Springers.
