These are brand new silica gel desiccant packets. They are perfect for preventing rust and corrosion on your guns or in your ammunition. They are perfect for your gun safe, closet, drawer, or even your tool box. Each packet contains 1 lb of activated silica gel. The are made to Mil-Spec so the are the best. They can also be reactivated using an oven.

These come with instructions on how to reactivate the packet including time and temperature.

I guess there are two questions how long to they last before they need to be reactivated and how long is the total lifespan.

I don't have any definite numbers to give you for either question, I would however reactivate them every 3-6 months just to be sure they are recharged. It will depend on factors such as how humid is the weather, how much your safe is open, are they used inside or outside. There are just too many factors to come up with a definite number.

As far as the lifespan, again I have no definite numbers but I would think they would last many years if you take care of them. All they are doing is removing moisture from the atmosphere and trapping it in the crystals. When you place them in the oven to reactivate them you are just removing the moisture from the crystals so they can be reused over and over again.

    Rich22,
Sorry but I just got your PM. I tried replying to it but it says you cannot get PMs. If you are still interested 8 bags will be $24 that is $8 for shipping, that is the best that I can do and it is still less than I am actually paying to ship them. Contact me through email or send the payment to paypal at chase_renegar@yahoo.com.

Mine arrived yesterday. I have no idea what I am going to do with all this dessicant, but the price was definately right. I'll find another use for some of it after I move. For now, I will have the dryest safe in the western hemisphere!

    Thanks for the deal!

I've used silica gel in the electronics industry, and if you recharge it regularly, it will last a very long time. My major loss was due to spillage while transfering it from equipment to an oven and back.

There is still plenty of silica gel available, so get it while it lasts.
