I’ve had this P45 for a few years, like 6-8 years. I carry it often but have not shot it a ton. Maybe a bit over 2K rounds max, probably closer to under 2K. I found a new firing pin spring I’ve had for a while so decided it would be a good time to detail strip and clean the slide. It was absolutely filthy! Bad filthy with what looked to be a lot of large grain sand and tons of metal chips and flakes (looked like brass) along with the normal black gunk and goop you’d expect to see in a pistol that needed a good cleaning. No big deal put all the parts besides the plastic fp rod/spacer thing in the cap to the gun scrubber and sprayed them down until they were submerged and then blew all the channels and nooks out on the slide. I did not use any brushes or even rags, just the pressure without the straw because I lost it. The slide looks much, much different. It looks like crap. The finish is gone in high wear places and is gone along the serations also. This gun had some normal, honest wear inside the slide but it looked brand new almost. I have an excellent holster, it’s never taken a swim or been dropped... I’m pissed.
