Great first I learn about Fiji water here on GT. Now there is some other water that I guess I cannot live without. But maybe Fiji for now.

You realize you basically do that every time you drink water from the tap right? It's just a larger scale.

Cleveland gets it's water from Lake Erie, uses it, cleans it, it flows to columbus. We use it, clean it. It flows to Cincinnati, they use it, clean it and it keeps going all the way down the Mississippi to the Gulf.

ETA: I've worked on some of the computer systems in waste treatment plants before. That Machine largely is a more compact version of a cities typical treatment process.

Any water, no matter how polluted, can be treated to drinking standards. Cost is the big factor.

The article failed to mention that it had been SuperAmerica that was crapping in the water the whole time.

If you don't think our current water systems work well, just look at the water born diseases from 1900 compared to now, or any country that doesn't have a water cleansing system.(like most of Africa)

Well, look at it this way, Congress could solve the water supply problem in California in a matter of days.

The astronauts use their recycled water over and over. I've been distilling our drinking water since 1986. Here in Jacksonville, Fl, we get a brochure every year, I think, with the allowed percentages of toxins and pollutants and the test results from areas all over the city/county. I want as close to zero as possible, so I distill their water and maintain about 30 gallons of distilled water. I use a one-gallon distiller and use a digital timer to cut it off before it boils most of the hard water residue and bakes it to the chamber. The distiller will shut down when the water is gone, but that's a hard-to-clean mess after one use. I use vinegar when the distiller has significant build up. We NEVER have to clean the coffee pots.
