Would you buy a long-slide .357SIG?

    Hello Everyone,

I have always wondered why Glock does not produce a Practical/Tactical model chambered in .357SIG like they do for the 9 and the 40 with the Glock 34 and 35. I have a long-slide in 9mm and I love mine. Mine is a 17L. If I did not have it I would buy a model 34. I was just wondering if the fans of the .357 (I do not yet own a Glock in .357, but I sure am beginning to be interested in this caliber) would buy one if Glock made it? Thanks for your replies and comments.

Absolutely. I haven't early decided which way I'm going with it yet though. LW longslide and barrel, or just get a G35 and a .357 barrel. Only I'm hoping to have a barrel done with a true .356 bore so I can use bullets designed for the .357 mag.

I have toyed with the idea of getting a G35 and then dropping in a 357sig barrel. I also like the idea of the XD tactical with 5" barrel.... aww heck..I like them ALL

I would buy a G35 and a drop in KKM 357 sig barrel, I may do that, only problem is, my G32 is pretty damn accurate, so Im not certain it would be worth it, and there are a multitude of other glocks on my list of items to get at the moment.

I run 357sig in a 5" Delta10. You get some terrific vel in the longer tube. An easy upgrade to an XDTAC in 40 or the Glock35. Only a bbl swap, same mags, go play. A freind of mine is going to start shooting his XDTAC in IDPA w/ the 357sig bbl. Why, because he has it & can & it's less recoil & cheaper to shoot.

I almost picked up a G35 last week to do exactly this, but ended up with a used 1911 to tinker with instead.

I've always like the idea of the 357 Sig with a longer barrel. At some point, I'm going to do the G35 or M&P40L conversion.

It would be nice if they made one like that from the factory.

My guess as to why they don't is that the 357 Sig is disfavored by the USPSA rules. No matter how fast you get it cranked up, it won't make major PF in limited or limited 10 because the the minimum bullet diameter rule. So if you want to shoot major, you get the 40, if not you get the softer and cheaper shooting 9mm. Couple that with higher ammo prices then 9/40 and a somewhat more involved reloading process, and I suspect the demand for a practical 357 Sig just isn't there.

Personally, I'd buy one and shoot it in production anyway. I'm currently shooting the M&P357 in that division with full 125gr/1400fps ammo. Might be a tick slower than powder puff 9mm, but I like it and will continue to shoot it. I wouldn't mind a bit more sight radius though.

But I bet the match director would put an end to that after I put a 1600fps FMJ through a mild steel popper

And I'd probably get the LWD slide, just because it would bother the heck out of me to have ".40" engraved on the slide.

Thanks for all the comments. I had a feeling that people would like something like that. As far as the .357SIG being counted as a "minor" caliber, that just doesn't make any sense to me. It seems like the governing body of that organization needs to be challenged on that. That's just backwards thinking. I only have one long-slide Glock, that's my trusty old model 17L. I have a 2nd generation model and because of all of its features, this thing can even make me look like a good shot  It is a shame that they don't offer something similar in .357. Maybe they will if enough people let Glock know that they want one.

    Dear Glock,

If you make a Longslide 357 Sig (or 357 Auto, if you prefer that other company's name not be mentioned), I will buy it on launch day, guaranteed! If it's the sweet Gen4 frame, I'll buy 2!! And please use some of your pull to make USPSA recognize it as the Major PF cartridge it rightfully is.

Thank you in advance for your attention in this matter, and for making such fine firearms.

I did a long slide 357 M&P last year by refitting a 5" 40S&W Pro with a 357 SIG barrel, and have enjoyed it greatly since. Photos and details were posted on the M-P forum.

Yes, a LWD slide with no markings would work for me.

The G35/357 Sig gives me better recoil and noticably better accuracy than the .40 version. The more I shoot it, the more I appreciate it.

I don't know why, but the targets and my hands tell the story.

I realize that I am "resurrecting" an old thread here, but I am really liking the idea of a G 35 with a 6 inch 357 barrel!

Love the Long Slide G35/.357 Sig!!

The barrel is for a Glock 24, but works perfect in my G22 also. Picking off clay pigeons off the berm at 100yds, brings lots of smiles at the range from fellow shooters.

Just revisiting a good thread. My G35 continues to run well with a stock length 357Sig barrel, and is more accurate than I am.

Tha G24 length barrel does look good though...

I use a Jarvis 357 Sig barrel in my G24. Lots of fun to shoot!
