Im getting a plain black shotgun, which needs some kind bedazzling on it somewhere. I've decided against rhinestones. So Im thinking of painting "POLICE" on the stock. Would this wind me up in the stockade?? I tried posting in the cop talk section but couldn't.

I made a stencil for mine that says "dork".

On the other side it says "CANWP" Which is my agency. It's in the trunk of my unit ('91 Corolla)

    Citizens Auxiliary Neighborhood Watch Patrol

whats the point of putting the word POLICE on your shotgun? Id say you'd be asking for trouble.

Unless you're an LEO, I suggest that you don't put "POLICE" on your shotgun.

If you MUST put something on the stock, why not put "BOOMSTICK" or "SHOTGUN", so that the 'bad guy's will know what's going to send them off to meet the coroner.

I'm not adding anything "tactical" other than a sling. And would like to personalize it a little. Any Officers out there with an answer?

Playing police with real guns is kinda stupid. Stupid games wins you stupid prizes. Dont be shocked when your prize is delivered. Its a tool not a toy. If it dont make you shoot it better it shouldnt go on your gun.

    From Ohio Revised Code, 2921.

(4)”Impersonate” means to act the part of, assume the identity of, wear the uniform or any part of the uniform of, or display the identification of a particular person or of a member of a class of persons with purpose to make another person believe that the actor is that particular person or is a member of that class of persons.

By its self having the word "Police" on any object would IMHO not be enough for arrest, IF you did something like stop someone for some insignificant reason (like to talk), while having an object with "Police" or did something giving the impression that you were an official, then that would be enough. All depends on the situation and how the investigator sees it.
My advice as a retired LEO would be "don't".

How about Five-O? Copyright infringement is better than impersonating law enforcement.

If you want a gun that says police on it just buy a 870 Police Magnum.
