So in Bismarck on business and the Olive Garden is right next door...

Does the chef for Purina dog food do double time?

Let's see: pasta fagoli soup... No broth, mostly kidney beans (wrong bean altogether). Sever said we don't do broth, it's more like chili. Soup like chili? Kidney beans?? She sent the manager since I wouldn't eat it(didn't ask for refund)... Manager said its a best seller and broth is not Italian, it should be like chili. Oh sure, like a pancake should be like a milkshake?
BTW, no refund even when my buddy asked (he paid).

    Grade-- F

Entree -- chicken Marsala , black weird look, no Marsala wine flavor and served with diced potatoes that were-- OK Corral, type of bad. Server said lots of potatoes like Italy. Italy diced potatoes. Right. ... I mean nope,...gnocchi ... Sure...
    Grade -- D

Friend got alfredo which was so bad (all manufacturing cream) he took a few bites and stopped... And he is really easy to please.

Dessert- Tiramisu... Whoops no coffee flavor, and mushy like pudding.

    Grade F.

Look. I'm normally hard to please, my mom is from Italy, we know this cuisine ... But hey, when it's below zero temp, and close, I though how bad can it be? Well bad enough that they should call it the Olive Dump And use it for fattening livestock.

It was bad enough that next time, I'll freeze a while and drive to a decent restaurant even if when blow zero. My bad.

I don't like it either and even here in the rural south I can get decent Italian from a number of Greek owned diners here for less than OG, but they must be doing something right since nearly everyone around here is always busy.

Yeah and Mc Donald's sells crappy burgers one after another, Chevy sells a lot of Sparks and Walmart a lot of 3XL clothes. OG's problem, simple, The food sucks... See link.

    +1

Their TV ads would make Kelleyanne Conway look like Kate Upton.

You mean the chain resturant wasn't as authentic as what your mama makes?

It wasn't authentic to a TV dinner microwave meal.

    So you love it, eh?!

Oh, I agree they suck, but they apparently change their menu to suit their customer base.
Like I said before, I won't eat their unless I'm taking a girl who happens to think it's fine dining.

Applebees or TGI Fridays are both horrible. Now in college we would hit up applebees for their cheap drinks and 1/2 price apps. That was actually a fun spot to get drunk and the apps were not that bad. It's hard to screw up boneless wings though.

Olive Garden only for salad and breadsticks and ONLY when I get stuck there because of a work or family thing.

There is just too much good food in the world to spend time eating crap. Give me a greasy diner or ethnic dive any day over major chains.

Went to a Marie Callender's last week it was awful for a somewhat pricey meal. I'm like the least picky eater, too.

No one being there should have been a clue. We found out it was a franchise and maybe this particular owner didn't give a crap. The place was dirty and the food is what you would expect from a microwave.

It's good for what it is at the price point.

I eat Taco Bell sometimes too, but don't compare it to authentic Mexican food.

I think all of the casual-dining chains are about equal.

    As for the worst chains...
Bob Evans is the worst sit down breakfast chain, imo. They even screwed up a turkey melt while I was there.
O'Charly's used to be ok, but now seems to cater to the lowest common denominator. Sirloin is almost inedible there.
Longhorn's is still ok but their quality has gone downhill while their pricing went up.

Guess we just disagree what is "good". Is limp, soggy pizza good too? Oprah as a stripper???

BTw Taco Bell is OK at times... To me.

The "last time" (note: last time is in quotes) that I ate at an Olive Garden was in Abilene, Texas in 1984.

I gave them a chance but like the saying goes, "Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me."

They ran out of their "famous" endless bread sticks (for the entire shift), the salad was limp and the lasagna was inedible.

On top of that, I was on a business trip and I just wanted to eat a quick supper and go back to my hotel. The service was so slow that it ending up taking 2-1/2 hours.

    Grade = F-
