Ok, so I woke up yesterday morning with an itch on my back. When I felt back there (thinking it was a bug bite) I felt a pretty big "ball". Went down stairs and showed my wife... About 10 days ago, my wife was doing "cupping" on my back, and took a picture to show me. That picture would end up coming in handy.

We looked at the picture and sure enough, there was just a regular old brown mole there (like it always had been). Now, over the course of 9 days, it bubbled up and became itchy with red skin surrounding it.
In my search to find out what it is, I've unfortunately only come upon one thing- Nodular Melanoma. The deadliest there is.

I'm currently waiting for a referral to see my derm, tomorrow, for a biopsy. I'm pretty worried about this one and it don't look good.

Here's a pic of it now. Again, 10 days ago it was just a regular brown flat(ish) mole.

Prayers, well wishes, advice, etc, are all welcome...

Best wishes Josh, but don't panic yet. About 25 years ago a friend who spent a _lot_ of time on the water had melanoma turn up on his face, had several surgeries and is still doing fine today. I had a "thing" on my forehead several years ago, dermatologist said it was something precancerous and simply burned it away with liquid nitrogen and I came back for a follow up a few months later, all clear.

I hope it's just a case of googleitis, like it most often is. Get it checked out so you can relax again.

Best of luck Josh. I had a couple chopped off this spring, one on my face (I know the jokes will be coming forth). I go back next month for a recheck.

Good news is if your wife was just cupping your back and it's popped up since, it's very new. Prayers for good news for you brother.

Ah man you’ll be ok. I diagnose myself all the time and none of it as come about. Hell I convinced myself I had breast cancer a couple of months ago, found a small lump in my left breast. I even went and had a mammogram, and ladies I’m sorry y’all have to go through that. Anyway nothing wrong. I did fell sorry for the young lady that had to try and put my teet in those pinchers, not much there.

    That does look nasty.

Looks like an irritated skin tag.
Not an expert but it doesn't have the classic look of melanoma.

Definitely not a skin tag. It was a mole.

Unfortunately, Nodular Melanoma doesn’t play by the same rules as regular melanoma. That’s why it’s so deadly. Usually by the time it erupts the surface, it’s already spread. Many times it’s passed off as not being melanoma, because it doesn’t look like normal melanoma.

    Hope I’m wrong.

    Have your Doctor check it.

A few months ago I had a blackish nasty spot pop up on my back. I was sure it was Melanoma.

Doctor said, NO, and scraped it off.

I have had a couple melanomas, it is scary for sure, but if you are early to the game, the chances of things work out are pretty high. One of my melanomas was the kind that has very little color change, it was only a couple shades different than my normal skin color. I hope it is nothing to worry about and it scares you into getting checked by a derm annually.

I am very sun sensitive. I had one of those common no danger melanomas removed from my neck. Took place in the doctors office. Really I didnt feel a thing other than the tightness where they stitched me back together. But I did see what they removed and was really surprised at the size of it. Doctor said they go as deep as they can with the removal just to make sure they get it all.

Yeah, I had you in mind when I started this thread, as I knew you’d been down that road before.

I have been getting checked annually since I was a kid. My uncle died from melanoma and my grandfather had it. My mom always drilled it in to me to get my moles checked, especially since I am lighter skinned, have plenty of moles, and grew up I Phoenix.

Yep, I’ve had several removed over the years. The last one was much like yours, as I felt nothing and was blown away at how much of me they took! All while I just sat there....

My guess is cupping jacked it up ... literally.

Doesn’t look like borders are assymetrical and surface looks smooth vs rough
