Whadda listening to during your workout? I usually have some good contemporary Christian music on my MP3 player (but what do you expect from a preacher boy like me?). What music motivates you and keeps you pumped?
I don't use an MP3 player at the gym, but when I worked out at home the following always stirred my blood: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7cxlpFSCUYc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=umeZtszNShk Now, at home I am more likely to listen to this type music: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qxfo...CE960757A&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=6 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VUv66f_b_nk
Varies, but I've had Them Crooked Vultures in heavy rotation lately. Sometimes I just prefer silence.
I like silence. Unfortunately, I have to have something to drown out the crap the gym blares over the sound system, so my iPod comes with me. Usually it's some kind of metal or rap. Stuff like Acid Bath, Crowbar, 4-Ize, Ice Cube. It depends on how I feel.
I prefer silence. Here lately at the gym there has been a lot of 90s fad hiphop being played. It's enough to make one consider suicide. But now that my power rack is here, once I get my workout area ready to roll and quit having to go to the gym, I will workout with nothing but the sound of my awesomeness.
Been listening to Dope lately. Also use: Fear Factory Fu Manchu Static X As I Lay Dying Eye Hate God Age of Ruin Monster Magnet Corrosion of Conformity Metallica (1st 3 albums)
If you like Eyehategod, check out Acid Bath, Crowbar and Soilent Green; they're also from that same NOLA sludge metal scene.
My partial workout playlist: Welcome to the Jungle Tom Sawyer Smoke on the Water Smells like teen spirit Runnin' with the Devil Rock and Roll All Night Come on feel the noise Photograph One More Human Than Human Higher Ground Eye of the Tiger Everlong Epic Enter Sandman Dragula Bring me to life Black Hole Sun My psych-up for 20-rep squats is always Eye of the Tiger. I need a few more workout playlists.
Turbo, your somewhat retro playlist reminds me of when we went to the football playoffs in 86. The coaches made the players get to the school 3-4 hours early for the Saturday game and played Rocky 4. I think the defense had blood in their eyes after that, LOL. 17 year olds...
Forgot about White Zombie/Rob Zombie Outstanding workout music. Some of the best. Last of his I got was Educated Horses and its great.
A lot of Linkin Park-'specially on cardio sessions. Megadeth. SlipKnot. Black Sabbath/Dio Tool ......and a rather healthy portion of Iron Maiden's "Live After Death" 'tallica. Beastie Boys -all of LtI. Pantera (Walk, Cowboys from hell). dan
Dan, your last one makes me want a frozen mocha from Pantera Bread that's about 2 min. from my place...
I'm more old school than new school. Did you hear about the 13 year old kid (in 7th or 8th grade) who just signed a verbal commitment - non-binding, of course - to play football at USC? Hasn't played one high school game yet. SHEESH.
I love sludge metal. I like some black metal, too; stuff like Gorgoroth and Emperor and Nordicwinter. Yeah. Lane Kiffin's either a dumbass or a genius. I'm leaning towards the former.
If it was binding, I'd say that was incredibly stupid. Still pretty silly IMO, but I don't really keep up with sports enough to know. I have only watched a couple of sporting events in this century.
I've been listening to In Flames quite a bit lately. I think they are considered melodic metal. Thats one thing I love about Fear Factory, Burton can cover every base with growls and can really belt out some melodic vocals.
