I went out today & brought home a pound of Autocomp from Cabelas. So when I got home decided to work up some .45 loads. I have a Springfield TRP that I just love and is very accurate. So any excuse to go shoot is good enough for me. I had done a lot of reading the previous posts about Autocomp here and was a little concerned about my purchase. I have a dillon 550B and I take 10 powder drops to get an average on what it's throwing before I start loading.Well here's what I put together. 10 rounds each of: 6.04gr 230fmj at 1.265" (bought some federals at this length that ran fine) 6.14gr 230fmj at 1.265" 6.30gr 230fmj at 1.265" 6.49gr 230fmj at 1.265" Unfortunately I don't have a chrono so I can't share numbers with you.(that's next on the list). But the best groups came from the 6.14gr and the recoil was very similar to some 4.52gr WST I put together th other day. The second best group came from the 6.30gr and the recoil was just slightly more but still very manageable. The Autocomp burned pretty clean, but it's better than some of the dirtier powders out there. All in all for target loads it was fun, but I need to find out if these loads are going to make pf for IDPA. I have a friend who has a chronograph I can check my loads with.
