I’d like to put up a wood carport. It’d be for a single car, maybe 12’ by 16’ in size (I’m flexible). I’ve Googled “wood carport kits” and checked Amazon as well.

Any suggestions or prior experience with such a carport??

    Thanks!

Thanks for the design. I will look into it as far as practicality and costs. Still hope someone comes up with a kit I can buy.

OK, I was the original poster on this antique posting!! Got this car port put up last year. Made by the Amish in PA and shipped to Cape Cod and erected here (duh).

So I go into a wood structure place when I saw this model in their yard. Asked them, "how much was the car port?" They reply, "We don't make car ports." I respond, pointing to the structure in their yard, "What's that?"

"It's a pergola" the lady replied. I respond, "I want to buy a pergola please."

    See my pergola below:

If it was raining out, that'd be a decent spot to drink beer.

Very nice! I like how they raised and leveled it with the concrete piers.

Really does keep the gunk off the car that falls off my yard's trees. Sticky goo that is brutal to get off the paint.

    Yeah, I like my pergola!

Looks good, how much was it in total? I use a 10x20 tent thing but something more permanent might be nice but I was thinking something like that would start to approach the cost of an enclosed garage type setup.

Just get the car out of the way, add chairs, coolers, a grill and you'll have the nicest pergola around.

I can see you at the meeting... "say it with me people...CARgola, CARgola, CARgola"

It really rolls off the tongue.
