People get plum silly with big dogs they don't know. I know pit bull type dogs get a bad wrap by the media. But that doesn't mean they're not to be respected. A lot of the animal rescuers I've seen don't have any respect for the animals they're rescuing. You see these people pick up a dog from a bad environment and give it 100% of their trust and don't show any kind of caution with them from the get go.

Big dogs with an unknown background.

Also, dogs in packs often act like teenagers in packs (or vice versa).

    Yeah. Maybe they were bored.

But I'm sure the ex-owners would say that they were "good dogs".

True - both quotes. I once got surrounded by three Irish Setters. They are usually a docile breed. I was on my walk and they got me in the middle of a triangle. The fourth, the alpha male, stood back a bit. Man, the hair on my neck was standing up!

I walked toward the one that was between me and my house. If it was still there when i got to it I was going to punt it - but it let me pass.

Their ex-owner said they were "good dogs". :whistling:
