Sad, if true (and I've got no reason to doubt it). Gotta be a horrible way to die.

Truly horrible. Another reason to ALWAYS carry a gun. In Alaska, it is especially important and the state's gun laws are some of the best in the country!!!!

    Solution:

    1. You cannot outrun a wolf.

    2. Jog with a friend.

    3. Make sure you can outrun your friend.

I heard bear attacks are getting bad in Alaska as well. I made up my mind a long time ago that death by animal is not the way I want to go.
If I was jogging in one of the most wildlife rich parts of the country, I would probably be jogging with a 10mm or some other, large, juicy caliber firearm.

Did I read that she had an ipod on and likely didn't hear them and that the locals knew and had requested removal of said wild K9s (request pending)?

Didn't any of the locals warn her about jogging... alone... unarmed and w/ music playing in her earbuds?

Situational awareness might have been better.

    May she RIP.

How big do those dogs get up thataway, anyhow?

As bad as the attacks are, more people are killed every year by deer than any other animal.

the article said up to about 145 pounds.

if i lived in alaska, i would definitely always carry a very powerful handgun, especially if i felt the need to run in areas known to have wolves.
