Used to be really slow (I mean R E A L L Y S L O W) and very expensive but I think it's tolerable now and about $50 to $100 per month depending on the carrier and options you get.

I just recently checked on Verizon's wireless plan here in Montana. They have not upgraded their cell towers in most, if not all, of the state. This means it would cost be a lot and would still be slower than dialup. The faster stuff is still probably two years out.

It sounds like the speed is dependant on their cell towers and whether they are new equipment or not. Or equipment that can handle higher bandwidths.
