Guys...I have "free" wireless here in Alexandria, Va. But this issue also has happened when I had wireless service in other locations. The problem is that my service is intermittant. I lose connectivity very briefly and often. Very annoying. How do I fix?
Remember, this is free service and I have no router or modem to deal with.

Define "free" and I may be more inclined to help you.

The city of Alexandria provides wireless access to the entire city.
I just boot up my system and I am in the net.

First, this is XP SP2, correct?

If the signal is plenty strong, make sure the PC can't 'Turn Off This Device To Save Power'. Try Start> CP> System> Hardware> Device Manager> Networking> WiFi Card> Properties> Power.

What kind of card is it? Integrated or add-on?

    More data, please.
