I live in the "snow belt" of northwest Indiana and I'm amazed at the people who live up here and freak out when there is a little snow and ice on the road. Perhaps they originally lived in Florida. It's a good thing that vehicles do not come with rocket launchers and machine guns!!!

For those who haven't lived in the south, most houses (unlike up here) have their water pipes come in to the house from outside, rather than from a semi-insulated area like a crawl space ect.

If you don't let the water drip, the outside line will freeze and burst. Growing up in NE Florida ever year someone would forget to heed the freeze warnings and their pipes would burst.

I moved up here and would do the same thing in the house until a neighbor told me not to worry about it until the temps dropped into the teens.

Things are a lot different in the south... and better too :tongueout:

Driving from Bloomington to Valpo to visit my g/f was a bit of a trip. Mid 40's to ice to wow, what the hell is all this white stuff?

I've got good friends in Chicago as well, and I gotta say, I miss the snow.

Ft. , also here, record breaking high temp today.
Windy, probably no real severe stuff, though, so far.
For me, every day above freezing is a good day and one step closer to spring bass fishing.
