I hate this time of year here in UT. The holidays are over (such a let down), it's very cold, it's dark outside at 5:30 p.m., the snow on the ground around here is dirty unless you're in the mountains, and the inversion here in the Salt Lake valley creates a nasty, smoggy air quality problem that makes it so you hardly ever see the sun it's so thick in the air. I'm not a skier or snow boarder and snow shoeing is totally mind numbing boring -- tried it last week.

I don't suffer (at least I don't think so) from seasonal depression, but the whole situation does get me down. I'd go crazy living in Alaska.

Any one else like this right now?

    I'll trade you.

I'm stuck in Birmingham, AL. It's been the rainiest year on record, and now it's snowing. I long for Seattle...

Yeah I got a little of that going on myself. It was in the -20s here today so that its not just the snow and crap but the cold is harsh. Just not looking forward to going back to school on Monday because the university I go to is pretty large so walking between classes and from the parking garage sucks.

Same thing with it getting dark so quickly. It seems like I get pretty lazy when it gets dark so early and I am not outside doing something.

I am in NE by the way, someone suggested I should put that on my info the other day...I am feeling pretty lazy lol.

This is my favorite time of year. I don't do well in hot weather.

Don't think I'd want to be in AL either. Being in Hawaii right now sounds totally wonderful.

I love this time of year and am really enjoying the snow. I get to sledding tomorrow with my girlfriends niece and nephew. Should be fun!

I do enjoy skiing but this weather has me down too. Just don't have any desire for the outdoors this winter. Usually I am skiing 10-15 times a season, snowshoeing etc.

Hell, I haven't even wanted to reload any in my cold garage (and it's not THAT cold).

could have been the miserable ***-biting cold snap during my elk hunting trip that ruined it for me.

Lately Seattle has had the best weather in the country. I am loving it.

I don't like real hot weather either but at least the sunshine outside lasts longer and there's never any smog here in the summer.

Clear, perfect blue sky all over the place.
A lot of the clean, white, sparkling snow.
    I love it here :wavey:

I long for Spring. It starts to get warmer then. The rain washes away the dirt on the ground and in the air. Leaf buds and perinial flowers are starting to bloom. And, thank heaven, the sunshine lasts longer toward the end of the day.

A little early for the "winter blues", isn't it?
    Give it a few weeks.

<------ just happy to be alive and healthy!

When I was a kid it used to kill me when I heard we were going to have 6 more weeks of Winter when the ground hog saw his shadow. :)

I hear you, brother...here in Montana we're throwing buckets of water into the air to listen to the ice come crashing down. Great sport! HH

Seasonal affective disorder (SAD) is very real; your doc can help.

Yup. Also it probably wouldn't hurt to start megadosing Vitamin D. You don't stand a chance of an overdose until around 10000 IU. I take 4000 IU daily, at the direction of my neurologist.

Thanks, but I don't think I'm that bad.
