So, there's this 1897 at the local gun shop. It's been sitting there for about a month or two. I figure they want too much for it, seeing as how rough the finish is. Mechanically it's fine and there's no rust, but I'll be amazed if half of the bluing's still there. Wood's in good shape, though. Does the GT brain trust think $300 is a fair price? Also, what's the selection of accessories for it like out there? Thanks.:wavey:

You don't want to put any "accessories" on 1897.
Locally You have to pay around $400-600 for a modern reproduction (Norinco or Chaparral Arms).

Not really accessories like a light or anything. Maybe it's an optical illusion because of the barrel length, but this one seems to have a much shorter magazine tube compared to the 20" riot models I've seen and I was wondering if there are multiple lengths available. Other than that, I'd leave it stock, except for maybe putting a new brass bead on the barrel.

Sounds like a good price. It's an old classic, there are no modern accessories for it, but there are some for cowboy shooting. If you want to accessorize go with a mossy 500 or rem 870 or a winchester 1200, 1300, the 1897 is more of a classic piece.

That's fair price on 1897, like Nestor said, it really don't need acceessories.

If it's mechanically solid, $300 is a good price.
