 I've got a combo cd drive that does everything- reads, burns, writes, and plays dvd's and worked fine till I installed XP. Now I can't get it to play a dvd nor can I get it to burn a cd (using XP program)and my local computer expert (my son) can't figure it out, can anybody help? I'm using Windows Player 10.It will read a install disc but not much else. Thanks, Jeff

    1. What CD burning software do you have installed on that PC? I vaguely remember some older Roxio software having some problems with XP.
    2. Have you gone into the device manager and uninstalled the burner, rebooted and let XP reinstall it?
    3. Have you tried a DVD movie in it to see if it will read it?

Those few things popped into my head.

I used to have Nero, but when I put the XP upgrade it was a clean install and my Nero program was gone along with a lot of stuff! Right now I'm trying to use the cd burner that came with XP. I was told that it's not a burner problem (by my son) and he will come up and fix it in a few weeks, but I would like to have done before that. Thanks, Jeff;)
