Recommend you get the 7-round Wilson mags instead of the 8-round ones. Longer follower and stronger spring makes them much less likely to suffer the issues that have been known to plague some of the 8-rounders.

I just bought a few new Wilson ETM mags on the advise of a trainer. They are sweet! A true 8-round mag instead of a modified 7-rounder. They fit perfectly in a mag well, might stick out too much on a gun without one.

    I like the Wilson 47s.

But for your 1919 Colt, if you gonne shoot ball, try some Checkmate G.I. spec mags. Best of the best IMO. They even feed hollowpoints in most of my guns.

Wilson are awesome. I run 47d's and ETM's, but ETM's primarily. Ive had a few failures while using them, but that could have been from a number of issues

I am with you on the ETMs. I have a couple already and just ordered two more from Midway. To the OP, I would try and find some original USGI 7-round mags. I have a 1918 Colt that shoots just fine with its USGI two-tone magazine.

All I can say is this, my Kimber Custom II has run at 100% with wilson 47C magazines (it's about a year old and right at 1,000 rounds). A few months ago I forgot to put the Wilson mags in my range bag and had the Kimber factory mag only. I had several feeding issues. This reaffirmed my confidence in Wilson mags and made me a true believer that they can greatly increase a 1911's reliability. Now I've also had no issues with the cheaper ACT mags that came with the DE1911 but for a couple dollars more I'm going with the Wilsons. Also, you get their great customer service even as a magazine customer, if the mags have any problems they will take care of you.

i like the ETM's as well, no problems with them in .45 or 9mm, though it seems like people have problems with the Wilson mags in their Springfields.

Not a big fan of Wilson's mags. Tripp Research has a better product, IMO.

I believe that using the wrong mags is what got this whole business about 1911s not being relaible started. There is a mag out there for every 1911, whether it be Wilson, Tripp, Chip McCormick (my fav), Metalform, Checkmate, oh, ok, I could go on and on. You get the point.

And IMO, its a jsut complaint. You really shouldn't have to go hunting for the right mag to get a gun to run right.

Well thats just the nature of the beast. you have 30 or more companies making 1911 magazines all of varying quality and tolerances/specs. If 30 different companies started making Glock magazines, alot of them would suck. Think about most aftermarket Glock magazines, they do suck. Its really not a big deal, just find the ones that work and have fun doing it!!

I have had no issues with 47D's with over 1k rounds through them. Come to think of it my crappy Kimber mags have been perfect as well. How'd that happen?

Tripp does make a great magazine as well. So does Metalform and CMC, as long as your using any of those 4 youll be good to go
