Guess I'll have to.... When I was first married, and before the stadium was even a thought, that area was a lovely little green area with lots of trees in a peaceful location on the edge of Irving, just across the Trinity River from Big D. There was a nice, clean trailer park there and we rented a brand-new 3BR trailer there. Lived there for a year or so while saving up to get an apartment in town. Lovely place. Some years later, when the stadium was proposed, I went in with a buddy, leased a gravel truck and hauled gravel for a year and a half while the stadium was being built. Once it was done, there was a big party and we got a tour of the place. More years later, when we became prosperous, I had season tickets one year, 6 rows up, on the 51 yd line. Sat in with a lot of high rollers, cheering Roger Staubach, Robert Newhouse and the classic running backs of the Cowboy's golden years. Han an ongoing cheering duel with Crazy Ray. This was in the early seventies, Cowboy Prime-Time! More years later, still prosperous, did a number of charity do's with the Cowboys, sat alongside Tom and Alicia Landry, the coaching staff, and later on, with Jerry Jones. Prayed alongside one famous running back prior to his going into surgery for a career-ending injury (who is now a major sportscaster). Passed time with Pat Summerall, who was a neighbor of my parents, and was really a down-to-earth guy in person. Now, being essentially retired, and Obama-poor, I look back on those times with great fondness. I've never been to the Cow-o-Drome in Arlington, doubt I'll ever go. Goodbye old amigo... I was there for your conception, birth, life and old age. I'll be there to see your passing.... Ronaldo, with great affection toward a great place.
While visiting relatives in Dallas, I toured the place the summer before it opened (1971?? I was still in high school) and remember being very impressed with the skyboxes, a new stadium concept at the time. I never attended a game there but went to JerryWorld for the Cotton Bowl this year. The big screen there definitely impressed....
I got to watch the Kingdome in Seattle implosion. I didn't think it would be very cool, but it was actually worth watching. It is actually pretty cool to see how they can take down the whole thing without much damage to other structures.
Yes i will watch it. Even through i never made it to a game there. I have been to COWBOYS STADIUM twice i went to the first regular season game, then to the cotton bowl and the teams i cheered for lost so i might not go back ever.
