I live in a ban state. I can only have preban highcaps.

I have some. They are all ok but I am wondering if Glock can replace the springs and followers anyway.

Keep in mind that the mags can not be switched for new ones since I can only have prebans.

You can do it yourself with parts from online retailers if I'm not mistaken. It's not like you are adding capacity by changing the stock spring and follower. Wolff springs and Midway USA are probably good places to start looking.

I know that I can do it myself. I would just need new springs need old 9mm3 followers.

I was hoping to get it done for free.

    Would Glock charge me?

Even if they did do it for free, it would be a risk sending it in. one human error and they lose your original preban mags, and you are stuck. They would offer to replace with new ones if there was an error. The safest way would be to do it yourself.

another option would maybe be to call glock and talk to them. let them know you don't want to send them in since you have to keep the ones you already have. and ask if they can send you the parts to do it. That may depend on how many you have. they may send some for free, they made charge you.

Not sure if they still do this...

    But, goto a GSSF match.
There is usually a Glock certified armorer at the match that will service your Glock & mags for free.
Service, being check and replace worn out parts.

    Great advice guys.

Maybe I can fax or email a picture of my stash to prove I have them. Perhaps then, they can send out all the parts and just charge me shipping.

I can not call them till Thursday because I am busy, but I'll keep you posted after.

What ever you decide to do,.....I would NOT send your mags in!
A small error could leave you royally screwed!

Glock routinely just replaces old mags with new ones. And I doubt they have #3 followers in stock anyway. I would replace the springs myself and keep the old followers.

I spoke with Glock when my pre-ban glock 19 mags were giving me failure to feed issues.
They sent me a bag of goodies to replace everything except for the mag body. :D
    All free of charge.
He sent me an assortment of different followers as well so I could match it up as best as possible to the preban non-full metal lined mags I was rebuilding.

They are truly a GREAT company with amazing customer service, even if you didn't buy your glock new. :D

I would suggest finding a local certified glock armorer to do it. Treat it like jewelry and keep an eye on it!

i never can understand the pre and post band mags issues with ban states...

i have multiple magazines of pre and post ban high capacity, or as glocks says, standard cap....i cant tell the difference between pre and post ban mags, so how is your state going to tell...

for all you know, if you get caught with your pre ban mags, they will think your are breaking the law because you cant prove it...

Crest, I feel your pain being in a ban state (MA). Find a gun shop that has a glock armorer on staff, they should be able to do it for you there, or at minimum get you the parts that you need. This way, like others suggested, you can keep the prebans in your eyesight during the whole process.

Being in a pre-ban state the rules are stupid. They mirror the federal AWB as far as date of manufacture. They have to be made before 1994. You can easily tell the difference with Glock mags. Pre-ban the caliber marking is lower below the taper. Post-ban they are higher to allow for LEO marking if used. For each and every mag you have is another felony count.
