No, I'm not really, but I am "certified". For one of our brush fire drills, a "wildland firefighting instructor" from the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection department came out to our department. Considering it is rare for us to get a brush fire larger than a couple acres, it wasn't necessary but it was interesting. 6 or so years ago, we had a drought and had a spat of good sized brush fires one spring. The problem we had then was the fire getting down into the ground and smoldering. Lots of hand work with shovels (that is where the young explorers come in handy! lol).
