My LGS owner asked me to call Wildey for a lead time on a Survivor in .44 Automag.

I called and got an automated message stating that those inquiring about Wildey weapons should know they were ceasing production until the could do a full inventory and an audit. Those inquiring about "other weapons" (I'm assuming their JAWS pistol) please leave a name and number.

Well, right after I got the quick beeps and "Voice mailbox is full"

I tried three different e-mails (two I've used last year) and all came back undeliverable. I tried using their feedback page and after I hit submit I got "form error"

Yeah, this figures. I FINALLY have the funds to get one and they might be done.

    FML!!!

Well, they might not be DONE done but this doesn't look very good.

    There's always Gunbroker, Hivel.

I plan to get an original anyway.

    And I want an 8".

    Sudden Impact = Automag

Death Wish III = .475 Wildey

I wrote this review of the big bore auto pistols back in 1998. It covers the following pistols.

    Desert Eagle
    Automag V
    44 Automag
    Coonan
    LAR Grizzly
    Wildey

Personally, I would pass on the Wildey and buy an original 44 Automag.

I would too Tony but I don't have the $ to get an Automag and getting spare mags? Yeesh! If someone were to re-introduce the Automag I would get a 2nd job and sell a gun or two to get one.

I know the tang of the Wildey is brutal. Shot a mag of .475 back in 2001. Yeah, not fun. But the .44 AMP is not as powerful. The grip tang wouldn't brutalize me as much. And I'd be able to get spare mags.

Well, it's all moot. Now no one makes a .44 Automag. So much for my carbine/pistol combo. :(

I'd buy a Grizzly .45 Win mag and convert it. Probably cheaper than an Automag but mags again are scare and then I'd have to find somebody willing to make me a barrel....
