Little history... I have had a gun in my hands since i was 5. I have over a hundred guns mostly hunting and collectibles. I dont have many pistols but my DCC is a Homeland Defender G23.

My wife also has her CCL and has a G27. We are big glock fans as her Father, Brother and Brother-in-Law all are policeman and carry G22s and G27s as backups. Myself being the only one with the G23. She bought herself the G27 thinking its size would fit her best.

I have shot about 2500 rounds through mine and she has shot about 750-800 though hers but she says the G27 hurts her hands. She said the G23 does not and the G22 does not, both she has shot 500 or so through each.

My problem would be easy solved by trading in her G27 for a G23, (cant let her have a bigger gun than mine!!! hahaha) but with mine being a Homeland Defender she said would want a special edition glock... She definitely wants the Extended Mag Release and the Extended Slide Release for her small hands (both of which mine came standard with)

I have done some searching but with limited results. Has there been any special edition G23's come out recently I might find still in the gun shops I could trade hers in on or buy outright for here? (id like to swindle her our of her G27 to keep as a stash gun...

    It's a subcompact in .40; it has some flip. I would recommend a G26.

We will keep the .40 as I have about 4000 rounds in the bottom of the safe...

Really looking for another special addition G23 that might have came out lately. Is there any being produced? I searched and looked at all G23s on Gunbroker but did not find anything. There was a guy a couple months ago on here selling his Homeland Defender but he wanted 800.00. EEEEEK damn I bought mine new with no discounts for less than 600.00

i would suggest before you get rid of the 27 to try a couple of other options. i know the Speer Gold Dot Short Barrel would be one option for reduced recoil. the other might be a 9mm barrel and a couple of 26 mags.
my wife shoots and likes my 23. she says that the GD Short Barrel in the 27 puts the recoil in the 23 range

Get a 29SF for her. The 10mm round has depleted uranium power with no recoil, in fact some say it's like holding a roll of angel soft bath tissue in their hands.....

Seriously, get her the 23. Should he a bit better than the 27 for her.

What type of ammo is your wife shooting in the 27 ? If she's shooting lightweight bullets, have her try some 180gr loads.Heavier bullet = less felt recoil. You might want to try some Hornady or Federal personal defense rounds that are low recoil. The 27 is an awesome pistol.Try to make it more comfortable for her to shoot before you switch to a different gun.

Why not just get her a standard 23 and add the extended releases?

You could send it to mag-na-port and that would cure some of the muzzle jump...

G26 or a 9 mm conversion barrel and mags.

I have a G22 and G27. Wife thought the G22 was too much kick and hated the G27.

She then shot someones G19 and thought that with training / range time she could get use to that.

If there is no special edition available and your wife really wants it to be different in some way than all the other Glocks she could have something done to it. Maybe her initials engraved on to the slide or something. I believe there are a ton of companies that do this sort of thing.
