yeah, a big guy with excellent grappling skills against a smaller fighter with just striking skills...the big guy will definitely smother the smaller guy.

One art isnt better than the other.. Its the individual.. Hybrid style of BJJ and Muay Thai with some wrestling is one of the best mixes.. BJJ does have the best of the submissions from every angle tho!:)

Superman, pakilala ka naman to make your BOG membership official! BOGS, superman79 is a fellow mixed martial artist. Soon to be proud owner of a baby Glock! We kinda agree that jiu-jitsu is somewhat ineffective against multiple armed opponents.... ;)

nothing beats a dependable handgun against multiple armed opponents but i must say that jiujitsu or any grappling technique comes out superior when it comes to one on one mortal combat.

    Which begs the second question
How come combat aikido isnt in MMA?

3rd question, how good was bruce lee? I use his Tao of JKD sa sport psychology research ko . His ideas are spot on

For me aikido is better if youre fighting multiple assailants na walang ganong alam sa martial arts kasi fluid yung movements pero if one on one jiujitsu and aikido, ill go for the jiu-jitsu guy kasi aikido is based sa circular movement and your assailants momentum eh pano pag natake down na sya ,so maganda siguro pareho mo practice if you have the time and patience!:)

    hehe, ok i'm gonna play:)

    in my opinion:

    1. as we say in IPSC, its the indian (person), not the arrow (martial art)
    2. bjj is more effective because its more practical ( i think), easier to learn (bikethief correct me if i'm wrong) from other MAs like aikido and karate.this is an impt advantage, since most of us are used to fighting standing up.
    3. for most MA clubs, focus on the mind-body connection has either waned or taught differently. much emphasis is placed on techniques, on ranking. but one may memorize all the techniques, without the presence of mind and proper timing, useless din. also, there are two many distractions today compared to how MAs were practiced long ago.
    4. bjj is definitely ineffective for multiple attacks for obvious reasons, aikido/karate are designed for multiple opponents. but no matter which MA, if you can't handle an attack from a bjj stylist, you wouldn't be able to control multiple opponents either.
