Let me preface this by saying, different strokes for different folks, seems he never heard of conversion barrels.

Why I Shoot .40 Through My Unmodified 10mm GLOCK
By Jeremy S on June 26, 2015

10mm Auto came first. The FBI chose a watered-down loading — a 180 grain bullet at 975 fps instead of more like 1,300 fps — and a large-frame S&W pistol through which to shoot it. By the time the contract went through, Tom Campbell, S&W employee, had realized that the powder capacity of the 10mm’s 25.2 mm-long case simply wasn’t necessary to achieve this same velocity, and the .40 S&W with its 21.6 mm-long case was born. For all intents and purposes, .40 S&W is really “10mm Short & Weak.” Brief history complete, let’s skip to the part where I’ve chosen to shoot it regularly through factory-stock 10mm GLOCKs. . .

My stock 20SF will not shoot 40. The LWD barrel will shoot it. To save 10mm brass I shoot 40 loaded to 10mm length for plinking. This is in my gun anyone else is doing it at their own risk.
For you apocalyptic loaders who do this stuff, here's the standard required safety warning:
.40 SW max. pressure SAAMI= 35000psi.
10mm max. pressure SAAMI=37500psi.
So, IF you load the .40 case to a 10mm COAL you've got the same combustible volume--I got that. But the critical fact the .40 brass can't take as much heat says, "Don't push it or, better, don't do this at all even if we're under the upcoming Ricktatorship. Get Starline :supergrin:10mm brass.

I prefer 10mm ammo that is not nuclear, but not 40 either.
Corbon 150 JHP or my duplicate handload is a great match for my 29SF

Glock 29 SF
(3.75'' barrel)
Ascending order of calculated recoil (PF) not KE.
Corbon 150 JHP @ 1,222 fps / 497# KE / PF 183
Handload: 150 Nosler @ 1,239 fps / 511# KE / PF 186
Hornady 175 gr. Critical Duty: 1,077 fps / 451# KE / PF 188
Hornady 155 XTP: 1,278 fps / 562# KE / PF 198

So with this mindset it would be safe to shoot

all those loads can be duplicated in a .40 when using Longshot powder
