Why does my cursor suddenly (as of today) keep showing the little hour glass, waiting symbol every 5 seconds??? It never used to do this. What did I do wrong? How can I get it to stop??? It's driving me mad! Please, someone help me before I go insane!!!

    Thank you

    Spyware?

What anti-spyware programs are you using? I sounds like something is running in the background.

Again, what anti-spyware are you using?

While you are posting that, also include you OS, anti-virus, and firewall.

If you haven't already fixed it check the task manager to see what else is running.

Where do I find this elusive "task manager" on WindowsXP?

And yes, I know that's the dumbest question you've probably ever heard.

Also right click on th task bar(blue bar at the bottom of the screen).

    Not a dumb question.

Ah! Thanks for the tip. Checked it and only have things running that I want running it looks like, which is cool. The cursor thing just sort of stopped on its own recently or during some messing around I was doing. Since I don't believe in things "curing" themselves I'm still confused as to how this happened as I don't recall doing a disk scan or anyting like that during the problem. Just another pc mystery I guess.

I did just remove both Mcafee and Norton and now my MusicMaker program won't load. The only thing I can think of is that for some reason it was tied into Mcafee as I was very careful not to delete anything but just removed stuff via the Add/Remove feature. This isn't that big a deal as it was the exact same program as Windows Media Player with the difference of having a pink skin...yuck! I much prefer the blue look of Media player so I'm not too worried about it. Besides, if I go with a different program like Itunes for downloading music I'll have to install that program anyway.

What does bug me is all the redundant junk that Dell has loaded on my pc. Multiple browsers, multiple firewalls, multiple AV programs, multiple system restore options, multiple music players, etc. etc. etc.
Talk about confusing! I wish they would have given me the option of picking the features I wanted loaded and that's it.

Ah well, to sleep, perchance to dream, eh?
