Why do so many people feel compelled to declare that they have no regrets...

Wasn’t there a John Wayne movie in which he referred to a Frenchman as Monsur Regret?

The only thing I regret is clicking on that GT link almost 20 years ago.

Not to proud to admit that I have regrets. None the less, I'm happy with who I am and where I'm at in life.

But I also believe God is ultimately in control.

Where the meme of the girl that was inked with Chinese lettering? (In her case, it turned out to be the menu items for the number 5 dinner on the takee-outee place next door.)

Can't think of many things I regret. Made plenty of mistakes that have taught me and helped turn me into the person I am now. Mistakes tend to teach me a lesson that I remember. There are a few decisions I have made that changed the course of my life, hard to tell if they were correct or not.

None of the posts here apply to my life. I've been blessed with three things that figured prominently in everything that I've done since I left home at 17.

    1) I've had guardian angels watching over me from a young age all the way through to age 73. Every friend noticed it. Ann, my neighbor in Oklahoma said: "You fall in chit more than any person I've ever known, but you always end up smelling like a rose!" It's true...……… I've been blessed! even things that looked like certain disaster, came out great!

    2) Regardless of the disaster or slamming of doors, something better ALWAYS developed. Never had a disaster that didn't open even better doors! It's like I fell UP!

    3) Been blessed with a clear, wide vision that "saw" the way the plan unfolded and that none of it was accidental. It was a plan not of my making but I could see now each piece fit together and enabled another action or reaction. Everything that happened, mattered.

I just described my life. Every negative thing that happened influenced changes that I needed to make. If there had been no pain, I wouldn't have moved.

    Damn straight...……………..NO REGRETS!

Interesting. So many of your posts sure sound like you regret marrying the woman that left you.

Interesting. So many of your posts sure sound like you regret marrying the woman that left you.

Seven years of marriage to her was the worst thing that I've ever done! She stole my son and that hurt like Hell.

As painful as that was, it opened the door to a Masters Degree, Master SCUBA Diver and Divemaster ratings, extensive travel, numerous fantastic jobs, great pay, got clean & sober (38 years), took gigantic motorcycle trips, got into photography, competition shooting and lots of wonderful changes!

Yes, there were many women along the way.

The 20/20 vision that sees how things interact, taught me that I needed to have that terrible pain to get me moving! She was HORRIBLE, and there was no chance to make that marriage work! It was part of the plan and it launched me into the most fantastic life I could imagine!

    NO REGRETS!

Google "No Regerts" then click on images. Mind boggling.

There are so many, most have to have been deliberate.

A very old lady said: "It's not the things that I DID that I regret. It's the things that I DIDN'T do." That list is very small from my life! I did everything that I wanted to do, and still live that way!

I think not having regrets makes sense objectively. Basically, you've lived and made choices, and you are where you are. What you did is water under the bridge, "sunk costs". I think there is value in looking at it that way.

Subjectively, I'm holding down the fort for the rest of you guys...

I don't regret very many things that I've done. Most of my regrets center around missed opportunities and I'm sure most people feel the same way.

Of the few things I do regret doing, my first wife is a big one. I wish I had listened to people and kicked that ***** to the curb before I ever said "I do." and I wish I had gone to medical school when I was younger.

Oh well, such is life. I got some great kids and most days I'm happy.
