...as if it's some sort of Zen-like achievement? I'll never get that.

Doesn't everyone have some regrets? I mean, nobody is perfect... well except maybe Hannie ;). I get that someone might take a position whereby they believe they'd made the best choice at a given time, and therefore cannot regret the outcome. But that position assumes that every choice they'd ever made had been thoughtfully considered.

Pretty sure everyone's made a few hasty decisions throughout life that didn't turn out so great. IMO, it's okay to regret having made those poor choices. Yes? No?

Oh and since we all know damn well it's coming, please allow me:

    I made a mistake once.

I thought I thought I was wrong, when I was actually right.

People like to think they are too cool to have made mistakes. Therefore no reason to have regrets.

I’ve got lots of them. Just learn from it and move in.

I said that once, but I regretted it later.

I wonder if those people who say they have no regrets ever regret saying that.

Regret is not something you want to hold onto. You learn from a situation, so you don't continue wishing you had not gotten yourself there in the fist place.

To regret is to wallow in defeat

People who say they have no regrets haven't lived much of a life or they're liars.

    I have tons of them.

I regret the two guns I ever sold, I regret moving into the home I live in, I regret not taking that first job I was offered out of college. I regret not leaving WI when I had the chance...

    Do I dwell on it..no.

"Regrets? I've had a few...then again, too few to mention".

I'm in a pretty good place in life, but there were mistakes along the way. I think it's part of the human condition. But don't dwell on them, they will eat at your soul.

The act of doing something is largely the act of not doing other things. Generally speaking, the better you are at not doing other things, the better you are likely to get at the something. And there are a lot of things to do.

So it seems pretty implausible to me that thinking people would make the effort necessary for success and have no regrets at all.

Because sitting around fretting over the past is a completely and utterly useless waste of time, effort and energy.

And since all it is is a dredging up negative crap from the past, which can be depressing or demotivating, it can actually be negative to your future performance in life.

**** the past. It's called "the past" for a reason.
