Not sure what the law is there, but I think he was Over charged. Looks like manslaughter To me, and unless it’s a lesser included charge, he may walk. Of course, pandering seems to have no limits these days, so anything can happen.

The outcome is less important than the immediate optics....it will take months or even a year to settle this case, with appeals, maybe several years...a Lot of political water will have flowed under the bridge by then.

I agree he may get off the pre meditated part but there isn’t a chance in this universe he walks. Not even the slightest chance.

Hold on just a minute, I thought "the mob" already acted as judge and jury and convicted Chauvin for the crime of racially motivated first degree murder? You mean there will be a trial?

Upping the charge to something the evidence doesn’t support is just dumb. Now we are gonna have riots in three years when he is acquitted.

Nothing is going to happen. He will plea out to Manslaughter and take two years. In MN I believe he has to serve 2/3 of the sentence if he has good behavior. So out in 16 months.

Still a felony conviction. He won’t even be able to carry a gun to protect himself, and we all know an assassination attempt on him is not out of the picture.

One time my dad sat on a drunk driving case as a juror. After the verdict was announced, the judge disclosed that the guy had two priors. My dad asked: why didn't you tell us sooner and we could have decided sooner?

See a video? You don't need know stinking testimony!

Don't be surprised if the cop testifies that he worked at the same night club, also as a bouncer. He also did a search for any police record and found 5 years in the pen. He also had the former co-worker issue him a threat in the encounter.

I mean like, you (protestors/forum members) want to rush to judgment, go right ahead. DON'T FORGET when your opinion is proven incorrect, to post in the forum that you were wrong. The last person to ever admit doing anything wrong was Geo. Washington who admitted that he chopped down the cherry tree. He still complained that the axe was rusty!

That article is nothing more than an attempt to stir up or keep stirred up the outrage and anger against the MPD.

The writer knows that folks want Chauvin head on a spike, he is not defending Chauvin instead he is trying to redirect that anger toward Chauvin to entirely rage against the MPD.

The message Is clear Chauvin and individual officers are not to blame, the MPD is the problem and it needs to be abolished.

The headline of the article is crafted to incite outrage.

What opinion is it that you think is incorrect?

That he is going to be convicted or that he won't be convicted?

If they are like California they would have lesser included offenses. Thats how the BART cop ended up with involuntary manslaughter. That was probably accurate in that case. Pull a gun instead of Taser like you intended.

This guy might be more likely to get voluntary manslaughter due to the back up guys recommending he let up. I think that is where they made a mistake charging the other officers. If they were witnesses and still employed they could be compelled to testify. Now they are in the same boat more or less.

In the current climate on this the only way Chauvin could get a fair trial is if they got a change of venue to Jupiter. I've said it before, if he walks this last crap we've all been witnessing will be just a warm up of coming attractions...

Really, I do think he might get a walk on this... Slim but it could happen!

Video of him kneeling on the guys neck ignoring his pleas and even ignoring what the officers with him were saying.

In this environment? No way he walks, just the brutality of the video is damnig enough. But any judge or jury knows if he is found not guilty the city is going to burn.

Ellison overcharges and he walks...everything there burns. Their mission accomplished.
