I want to see a ladder match between Biden and Trump on WWE.

A moderator is necessary to protect Biden.

In reality, having a debate now is a matter of tradition. You'd be hard pressed to find a true Undecided.

I wish the had given them boxing gloves, Donald should have smoked him in one punch before Old Joe kicked him in the crotch.

Moderators get airtime. Like actors, they probably crave airtime and being in front of cameras, nationally and internationally.

Moderators add to the ratings that can be counted, too.

Why have announcers for MMA? Why not just let the fighters jump in the rings and fight? Adds to the audience appeal. Even if some elements of an audience dislike a particular moderator, it just adds to the ratings and network appeal.

Yep. Any voters who are undecided by this point are likely quite small in number. Maybe 1%?

Debates by this point only feed background music to the choirs.

Still makes for news feed, money and ratings, though. Sells media.

Not necessarily. Wallace, for instance, continued to advance the thoroughly debunked lie that Trump called white supremacists "very fine people." Juan Williams has also repeated that lie. Questioning Trump about something he didn't say could hardly be termed fair.

Liberals I know are totally elated with Biden's performance in the debate.

I disagree. Part of the issue with this debate was the format. The candidates didn't actually get to debate anything. There was no real rebuttal allowed. The candidates needed more time on most issues. Biden would spew nonsense and Trump would try to rebut it immediately because he knew he wasn't going to get any other opportunity to speak on that issue.

Not surprising considering how low the bar was set.

That wouldn't exactly be a fair question. Also, two could play that game.

The ratings were high, but fell short of the 2016 debate between Trump and Hillary.

So both moderators could ask unfair questions? The notion that the questions would be tough, but fair, falls by the wayside, then.

I hope you are correct, but I fear there are a sizable amount of undecided voters out there...what I think Will help Mr Trump is the reports he may garner more than 10% of the Black vote...if accurate, that is huge! and could well put him over the top

That was a debate? Not like any I've witnessed. A total waste of time. Two over the hill guy's yelling at each other is not a debate. And attacking family members? Horrible. They both need to be stood in a corner until they need their Depends changed.

Exactly. And guess what? The moderator for the next debate used to work for Slow Joe.

Just remember. The image projected at these debates are very important toward Foreign Relations. Trump is doing it right: upfront confrontation, firm, logical, calling it out in public, etc.

The image is Don't Be Messing with America when Trump is in charge, nor messing with anything he cares about (family, country). He'll come after you, Hard!

A few world leaders can attest to that.

I guarantee you that Putin, Kim, Xi, Boris, Erdogan, Macron, et al. are watching in earnest.
Hint: be on Trump's good side, wait at least 5 yrs before coming after America.

There would be pitfalls no matter what, but at least we would have both candidates getting tough questions and not softballs.
